LEE, Mass. — A body found Thursday in a wooded area in Lee, Massachusetts, has been confirmed to be the remains of Delmar woman Meghan Marohn.
The Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Monday the body had been positively identified as Marohn, 42, an English teacher at Shaker High School in Latham and a resident of Delmar.
Identification was made Monday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Massachusetts.
The case remains under investigation in both Massachusetts and New York. A cause and manner of death has not yet been reported.
Marohn was reported missing by her family March 29. Her vehicle, a black 2017 Subaru Impreza hatchback, was found at Longcope Park in Lee the same day, Berkshire County District Attorney Andrea Harrington said in a statement.
Marohn was a hiker and trips to wooded areas were not uncommon for her, Bethlehem Police Commander James Rexford said in a joint press conference with Massachusetts law enforcement in late March, when Marohn went missing.
Massachusetts police were combing the area where Marohn’s car was found in Lee since March with K-9s and helicopters, along with other law enforcement resources.
The case is under investigation by Bethlehem Police, Lee Police and the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office.
