GHENT–A driver was hurt in a one-car crash on Route 203 between Roxbury and Pond Hill roads, February 1 at 9:35 a.m.
Gregory McEwan, 50, of Chatham was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla west on Route 203, when the car went off the south shoulder of the road and hit a tree.
Mr. McEwan told State Police at the scene, he swerved to avoid an animal in the road.
Chatham firefighters extricated Mr. McEwan from the vehicle and the Chatham Rescue Squad took him to a landing zone, where he was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with chest trauma, a torn diaphragm and a broken left leg.
Investigating the crash were Zone Sergeant Michael Piasecki, Sergeant Yvonne Boucher, Troopers Carmen Martino, Michael Clark and Chad Drozd.
Canaan
A 16-year-old student at the Berkshire Union Free School on the Berkshire Farm Center and Services For Youth campus was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief by Trooper Bryan Cloutier January 30.
The youth allegedly caused $250 worth of damage to a computer by throwing it on the classroom floor.
The student was issued a ticket to appear in Canaan Court February 11.
Alcohol
The following face alcohol-related charges:
*Jeremy Lazzara, 26, of Hudson was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content greater than .08% and failure to dim headlights by Sheriff’s Office Sergeant William Zincio during a traffic stop on Route 9, Stuyvesant, January 31 at 12:25 a.m.
Mr. Lazzara was released with traffic tickets and was directed to appear in Stuyvesant Court February 10.
