We are looking for the Top 5 changemakers in the region!
Capital Region Independent Media is holding its inaugural “Top 5” contest to identify the top changemakers in the communities we serve, and we are looking for your help!
There are so many people who contribute to our region, who drive change in their communities and make them better places to live. We want to recognize and honor those achievements, and we are asking the community to help identify the region’s top changemakers.
There are four categories that will be honored — the area’s top 5 women, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color), youth ages 15-21, and businesses.
Nominees must be people who live, work or were raised in our service areas of southern Albany County, Columbia County and Greene County.
Communities where individuals and businesses can be nominated in Albany County include Ravena, Coeymans, Coeymans Hollow, Selkirk, Medusa, Rensselaerville, Westerlo, Bethlehem, Delmar and Glenmont.
In Greene County, individuals and businesses can be nominated from Greenville, Cairo, Durham, New Baltimore, Coxsackie and Athens.
In Columbia County individuals and businesses can be nominated from all of Columbia County.
Nominations will be accepted through Feb. 28, 2023.
To submit a nomination, please fill out this form. and indicate why that person or business is being nominated. You may attach videos and images to your nomination form.

You may also submit a video presentation for your nomination. Please email a .mov or .mpg to firstname.lastname@example.org, subject line: Top 5ive. If you have any questions or additional needs, please contact Warren Dews Jr. at 413-212-0130.
Winners will be selected from a panel of business leaders in the communities in our North division, so they will not be familiar with or have personal connections to any of the nominees. There will be no conflict of interest with potential sponsors and/or people directly or indirectly connected to this event. Winners will receive an award and an invitation to a dinner ceremony in their honor in March.
We hope the community will take this opportunity to recognize the people who contribute to our community in a myriad of ways and make life better for all of us.
