Village elections March 18: New trustees run in Kinderhook

GHENT—The four villages in the county will hold elections on Tuesday, March 18. In three of the villages, Chatham, Valatie and Philmont, incumbent candidates are running unopposed. In Kinderhook, there are three people, new to the board, running for two open trustee seats.

Voters can write-in candidates on election day and on absentee ballots.

Village races:

•In Chatham, current Mayor John F. Howe and current trustees Peter Minahan and Ralph O’Mara-Garcia are running unopposed for reelection. All are for two year terms. Chatham is the only village that uses the County Board of Elections to run their elections.

Voting will take place in the Tracy Memorial Village Hall, 77 Main Street, from noon to 9 p.m. Information on voting is on the village website at villageofchatham.com or at www.columbiacountyny.com/elections

•In Kinderhook, the terms of trustees Mark Browne and Quinn Murphy will conclude on April 1 and they are not running for reelection. There are three candidates on the ballot for the two seats — Vilhjal Campbell, Astrid Montagano and Joseph Wildermuth.

Village Elections will be held at Village Hall, 6 Chatham Street, with polls open between noon and 9 p.m. Information is at villageofkinderhook.org

•In Philmont, there are two trustee seats and the mayor on the ballot, all two year terms. Incumbent Brian T. Johnson is running for mayor and incumbent trustees Jason Detzel and Clarence “Skip” Speed are running for reelection.

Voting in Philmont will be held at the Village Meeting Hall, 124 Main Street. Polls are open noon to 9 p.m. Information is on the village website at philmont.org

•In Valatie, Mayor Frank Bevens and trustees Larry Eleby and Matthew Carter are running for reelection to two year terms.

Polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m. in the Martin H. Glynn Municipal Building, 3211 Church Street. The village website is www.valatievillage.com
