The Sheriff’s Office received a donation from Columbia County resident Linda O’Neil to purchase a bulletproof vest for a Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit. The vest will be used by K-9 Kira and her K-9 handler Deputy Travis VanAlstyne. This donation was given in honor of her late husband, Charlie O’Neil who had a love of dogs and dedication to K-9 Units. She wanted to make sure that K-9 dogs are just as protected as their handlers.
