CLAVERACK—State Police investigators from the Livingston barracks charged Steven Nivar, 20, a resident of Brookwood Secure Center, with third degree assault, a class A misdemeanor, September 1.
On August 4, troopers received a walk-in complaint reporting an assault that occurred at the Brookwood Secure Center August 3.
Mr. Nivar, a resident at the facility, allegedly pulled down a recessed fire door striking a Brookwood staff member in the head. The staff member was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital and treated for a concussion.
Mr. Nivar was released on an appearance ticket and directed to appear in Claverack Court at a later date.
*Two men were charged on felony warrants by Deputies David Proper and Kris Bauhoff, August 28 at 6:06 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Office started an investigation after being notified that a male victim was assaulted at a private residence in Claverack August 23.
Nicholas M. Beachamp, 20, of Hudson and Rodney Dickson, 22, of Philmont were each charged with second degree assault, a class D felony. They are accused of striking a male victim in the face causing serious physical injury.
Both defendants were arraigned before Justice Michael Brandon in Claverack Court. Mr. Beachamp was sent to the Columbia County jail in lieu of $1,500 bail and Mr. Dickson was released on his own recognizance. They are both scheduled to appear in court September 15.
Canaan
State Police from the New Lebanon barracks seek the public’s assistance to locate a missing Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth resident. The juvenile was reported missing from the facility at 13640 State Route 22, September 6 at 2:40 p.m.
Police say Antonio Jacobs is a 17-year-old black male, with black hair and brown eyes. He is 5’10”, 150 pounds and was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt with black sleeves, red shorts with a black stripe and grey Nike sneakers.
State Police were unable to provide a photograph of Antonio.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call State Police at 845 677-7300.
Greenport
Sheriff’s deputies charged a man allegedly engaged in a drug transaction while parked at a business.
Deputies Peter Merante and Steven Rose were on routine patrol checking businesses when they saw suspicious activity inside a parked vehicle in front of a Fairview Avenue business, August 28 at 7:41 a.m.
Deputies made contact with three occupants in the vehicle and as a result of their investigation, recovered 24 bags of heroin along with hypodermic needles and some cash.
A passenger in the vehicle, Hakim M. Myrick, 25, of Hudson was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a class B felony, and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor.
Mr. Myrick was arraigned before Town Justice Francis Abitabile in Greenport Court and was sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to reappear in court September 21.
Assisting with this investigation were Sheriff’s investigators assigned to the Drug Enforcement and Education Unit and the Columbia County District Attorney.
*Anthony G. Price-Baynes, 21, of Hudson was charged with reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration and felony driving while intoxicated, by State Police, August 29.
An investigation into a suspicious vehicle complaint led troopers to the suspect vehicle which was being operated by Mr. Price-Baynes. While police were interviewing him, he allegedly fled in the vehicle and was apprehended a short time later.
He was arraigned in Greenport Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail or $6,000 bond bail.
Hudson
Philip Young, 38, of Hudson was charged with third degree attempted assault (with intent to cause physical injury) at 753 Columbia Street, apartment 2, by Hudson Police Sergeant Randy Clarke, August 26 at 12:44 p.m.
Mr. Young allegedly grabbed his roommate by the hair, forced her to the floor and forcibly struck her numerous times.
He was arraigned in Hudson City Court before Judge John Connors and was sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bail bond. He is to return to court at a later date.
Drugs/alcohol
The following face drug- and/or alcohol-related charges:
*Vance T. Cohen, 20, of Hudson was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, splash guards, inadequate/no muffler, tire standards, license plate violation, failure to notify DMV of address change, driving with an obstructed view, no/insufficient tail lamps and no/inadequate plate lamp during a traffic stop at 447 State Street, Hudson, by Hudson Police Officer Kevin Sweet, August 25 at 12:55 a.m.
Along with the vehicle and traffic law charges, Mr. Cohen allegedly possessed marijuana and a fentanyl patch (an opioid analgesic used for chronic pain.) He was released on two appearance tickets and eight traffic tickets. He posted station house bail and is scheduled to return to Hudson City Court at a later date.
*Megan Justine Kecskes, 26, of Oakland, CA, was charged with first offense driving while intoxicated (DWI) and first offense aggravated DWI (having a .18% blood alcohol content or greater) by Hudson Police Sergeant Jason Finn during a traffic stop at 259 Allen Street, Hudson, August 28 at 2:09 a.m. She was released on appearance tickets returnable in Hudson City Court September 16.
*Shannan F. Kipp, 24, of Hudson was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, by State Police from the Livingston barracks, September 2. Troopers stopped a pickup truck traveling on Route 66, Greenport, following a Columbia County 911 call alerting them to an erratic vehicle. The driver, identified as Ms. Kipp, was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the traffic stop. She provided a breath sample that revealed a blood alcohol content of .12%. She was issued traffic tickets directing her to appear in Greenport Court at a later date.
*Natalie M. Myers, 35, of Ghent was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, by State Police from the Livingston barracks, August 30. Columbia County 911 dispatched troopers to a one-car motor vehicle collision on Route 66 between Schmidt and Bartel roads, Ghent. While interviewing the driver, who identified herself as Natalie Myers, troopers saw indications she was intoxicated. The Chatham Rescue Squad took Ms. Myers to Columbia Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released. She was alone in the vehicle. She was charged with felony DWI when a criminal history revealed that she was convicted of DWI in 2007. Ms. Myers was issued tickets directing her to appear in Ghent Court September 14.
*Vincent F. Considine, 50, of Cairo was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, both felonies, by State Police from the Livingston barracks, August 29. Columbia County 911 called troopers to conduct a welfare check on a man sleeping in a vehicle in Greenport. While interviewing the driver, identified as Mr. Considine, troopers saw indications that he was intoxicated. He was charged with felony DWI when a criminal history revealed that he had a prior DWI conviction in 2012. He supplied police with a breath sample that revealed a .16% blood alcohol content. He was arraigned in Greenport Court and released on his own recognizance.
*Charlotte I. Eagle, 26, of McLean, VA, was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) (operating a motor vehicle with a .08% blood alcohol level), DWI (first offense) and operating a motor vehicle on a public highway while using mobile phone during a traffic stop at 420 Union Street, Hudson by Hudson Police Officer Nicholas Hodges, September 7 at 2:06 a.m. Ms. Eagle was found to have a blood alcohol content greater than .08%. She was issued tickets returnable in Hudson City Court at a later date.

Torralbes charges dismissed
GREENPORT—Town Justice Francis J. Abitabile has dismissed all charges against Anthony A. Torralbes. Judge Abitabile’s decision was issued August 11 and was released as a Certificate of Disposition from Greenport Town Court dated August 18, 2015.
