GHENT—Donald R. Farrell, 80, of Ghent passed away peacefully at home February 4, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born November 15, 1944 in Brooklyn to the late Bernard and Muriel (Betum) Farrell. On February 22, 1964 at Our Lady of the Sea Church in Staten Island, he married Pamela Taylor and together they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. They moved upstate and “Don” began his career with Universal Match in Hudson. He worked there for 22 years before becoming an armed security guard and going to work for the Hudson Armored Car Company. His commute daily took him back into the city transporting coins and cash. He loved the country and all that it has to offer. Hunting, farming, taking care of his animals and gardens were things that gave him great pleasure. He also enjoyed baking. Above all was the love and care that he had for his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by: his loving wife, Pamela Farrell; his brother, Bernard (Doris) Farrell; his children, Donald Edward (Sharon) Farrell, Michelle Farrell (Robert) Morra, Tracyalison (Patrick) Ruggiero, Shawn (Jenifer) Farrell; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Farrell; his 11 grandchildren, Timothy Coons, Amanda Sikoskie, Adam Farrell, Corinna Hawver, Cody Farrell, Garrett Pough, Caitlin Farrell, Ryan Farrell, Gabriel Morra, Donald R. Farrell II and Natalie Dunbar; and his two great-grandchildren, Lily and Ember.

To honor his wishes, no formal services will be held and the family will hold a memorial in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are with the Peck and Peck Funeral Home.
