ALBANY—Lois J. (Van Natten) Sears, 80, of Valatie passed away Monday, February 3, 2025 at St. Peter’s Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Cobleskill, February 17, 1944, she was the daughter of Myrtle E. Sherman and Lewis Van Natten, Jr.
She was a dedicated wife to Benjamin H. Sears, who predeceased her just one month earlier. Together, they shared over 65 years of love, partnership and cherished memories.
Throughout her life, she worked as an administrative assistant at various institutions, where she was known for her professionalism and kindness. She had a passion for the arts and was incredibly talented in both painting and woodworking, often working alongside her husband to complete many beautiful projects. She was also an avid cook and baker, always delighting family and friends with her culinary creations. She and her husband enjoyed traveling the country in their RV.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who remember her for her warmth, creativity, and dedication to those she loved.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Arden and Everett Van Natten.
She is survived by: her sons, Benjamin D. (Anja) Sears and Michael L. Sears; her grandchildren, Corey, Jessica and Kayleigh; and her great-grandson, Dominic.
At the family’s request, services will be held privately. Inurnment for both her and her husband will take place privately in North Chatham Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are with the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, Nassau.
