ANCRAM—Denise “Sis” Hamm of Ancram passed away peacefully February 16, 2025. She was born June 29, 1936 in the Bronx, to Frank and Helen (Hofler) Jones. She graduated in 1954 from Saint Helena’s High School and went to work for the phone company. She married Kenneth Hamm August 25, 1957 and moved to Ancram. She was a member of the Ancram Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and also helped with the events at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
When her children were older, she took a job driving school bus for Taconic Hills Central School District, she also worked for private contractors like Donald Klein and Michael Johnston. She spent many years working in the Taconic Hills administration office, as well as doing bookkeeping for the town of Ancram and serving a brief term as tax collector for the town of Gallatin.
She is survived by: two children, Kenneth (Matthew) and Mary Pepoon; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Patricia Sposato of Tacoma, WA, and Maureen Bike of Tucson, AZ; a close family friend, James (Paula) Smith of Jamesberg, NJ.

A time for sharing memories and offering condolences was held at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 8063 Route 22, Copake, February 21, 2025. A Memorial Mass will be held March 20, 2025, 10 a.m. from Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson.
