RHINEBECK—Lucy I. Rifenburgh, 94, passed away peacefully February 7, 2025 at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck.
Born February 4, 1931 in Hudson, she was a cherished daughter of the late Leland and Marjorie McLaughlin Lasher. She lived a full and vibrant life, marked by devotion to family.
Her life was a testament to the power of love. She found her soulmate in Reginald Rifenburgh, whom she married October 7, 1950 in the Reformed Church of Germantown, and shared a beautiful marriage until his passing March 16, 2013. Together, they nurtured a family that became her pride and joy. She is fondly remembered by: her children, Sandra (Bruce) Bohnsack of Germantown, Gail (Peter) Setaro of Poughkeepsie, Alice Palumbo of Front Royal, VA, Ronald (Susan) Rifenburgh of Germantown, and Randall (Tammy Dooley) Rifenburgh of Germantown. Her legacy also lives on through her 10 grandchildren, Jeremy and Joshua Gaschel, Bradley and Andrew Gatton, Amanda and Lucy Bohnsack, Brittany DuFrense, Garrett and Daniel Rifenburgh, and Kelli Brown; her 17 great-grandchildren; her sister, Claire Joyner of Wisconsin, along with numerous relatives, all of whom she loved deeply.
Her role as a homemaker was a source of great fulfillment and joy. She created a warm and welcoming home, where every friend and family member knew they would be received with open arms and a warm smile. Her favorite interests and achievements were rooted in the simple pleasures of life: the laughter of children, the comfort of a well-loved recipe, and the camaraderie of her community.
A lifelong member of the local community, her involvement extended beyond the walls of her home. She was a lifelong devoted member of the Reformed Church of Germantown. Her presence was a staple at various community events, and her contributions to the community were both quiet and significant.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Marian Battaglino and Ralph Lasher.
Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate her life, a life so beautifully lived, and to bid her farewell. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025, 11 a.m. at the Reformed Church of Germantown. Burial will follow at Germantown Reformed Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson 12534 or to www.cghs.org.
