Hailey Beaumont named to Phi Theta Kappa NY All-American Team

GREENPORT — Columbia-Greene Community College student Hailey Beaumont of Hudson has been named to the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) New York All-American Academic Team for 2020.

The Phi Theta Kappa Award recognizes outstanding community college students throughout the state who demonstrate “academic excellence and intellectual rigor combined with leadership and service that extends their education beyond the classroom to benefit society,” according to the PTK website.

Hailey, a Criminal Justice major, plans to graduate from C-GCC in Spring 2020, and currently holds a GPA of 3.94. She’s an active member of the C-GCC Criminal Justice Club, frequently serving as a program ambassador for potential students, and a member of the Twins softball team. HUDSON–James Calvin, board chair and F. Michael “Mike” Tucker, president and CEO, presided at the annual meeting of the Columbia Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) during Small Business Week, April 30. Local dignitaries welcoming a full house included: Matt B. Daniel T. Rickman, Upstate New York District director, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and a U.S. Army Veteran, gave a keynote address focusing on small business and survival and recovery from the pandemic. He noted that $1.2 trillion was authorized by Congress for aid to small businesses, which led to $120 billion for New York State and to $225 million in Columbia County. Small businesses account for 2/3 of new jobs and 40% of all employees.

New York State Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) awards in 2023 totaled $5,760,637, which included: $500,000 each for Town of New Lebanon Shatford Memorial Park and foundation restoration for Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society. Montgomery Street Projects LLC was awarded $1,526,168 for Kaz Carbon Neutral Redevelopment and Art Omi was awarded $2,000,000 for Pavillions.
