Flu shots are here, go to a drive-through

HUDSON—The Columbia County Department of Health has received the seasonal flu vaccine and has scheduled community drive-through clinics for all Columbia County residents two-years and older who want a flu shot.

Pre-registration is required to receive a flu shot.

Those who do not register ahead of time, cannot be vaccinated at their clinic of choice.

A separate registration form must be completed for each individual. Photo ID is required for each adult vaccinated.

Anyone who is sick with any symptoms associated with flu or Covid-19 including fever, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat, chills, new loss of taste or smell, or extreme headache should not come to the drive-through clinic. They should call their primary care doctor or call the health department office at 518-828-3358 for further guidance.

Register for a clinic by going to the Columbia County Department of Health website at www.columbiacountynyhealth.com and click on the link for the clinic one chooses to get a flu shot. Those without access to the internet can call the drive-through influenza clinic registration message line at 518-828-3358 X 1310.

Leave name and phone number and a staff member will call back to complete the registration.

The Health Department will accept the following insurance plans: Blue Shield of North East New York, CDPHP, Fidelis, Medicare Part B, MVP, Medicaid, and United Health

Care. Other Senior Plans may be billed including some Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans.

Those who are uninsured or underinsured may be eligible for a lower fee or a no fee for the flu vaccine.

All others are expected to pay a fee of $42 for the flu vaccine. Exact cash amount or checks accepted. No debit or credit cards.

Flu vaccine will be also be offered by appointment only at the regularly scheduled Immunization Clinic every Tuesday from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Columbia County Health Department, 325 Columbia Street, Hudson, on the first floor. An evening

Immunization Clinic is also available on the third Tuesday of each month from 4 to 6 p.m. All clinics are by appointment only.

Flu vaccine is the best protection we have from the flu and its complications. Flu vaccine also helps prevent spreading flu from person to person. Anyone who has ever had a serious allergic reaction to eggs or to a previous flu shot or has a history of Guillian-Barre Syndrome, should talk to their doctor before getting the flu shot.
