HUDSON—Hudson Police Department Sergeant James M. Delaney, Jr. was promoted to the rank of lieutenant January 22.
Lt. Delaney has been on the force since June 1997 and has held the ranks of patrol officer, detective and sergeant. He finished on top of the most recent civil service lieutenant’s exam. Lieutenant Delaney fills a position that has been empty since 2013.
“Our organizational structure is now complete, and our department can run on all cylinders. With the completion of our revised manual and policies, our officers will soon have an updated guideline for policing. Lt. Delaney will play a role in overseeing these policies, which will include an emphasis on professional investigations, public service, visibility, and accountability. I am confident in his abilities,” Chief L. Edward Moore said in a press release.
“Today’s decision and promotion was the result of ongoing efforts to have this department run at top efficiency. I am looking forward to Lieutenant Delaney bringing his expertise, professionalism, and years of experience to the day–to-day operations of this department,” Police Commissioner Gary Graziano said in the release.
State Police host Twitter Town Halls
ALBANY—State Police have launched a series of online question and answer sessions to better serve the people of New York State through social media.
The State Police have been hosting “Twitter Town Halls” on the division’s official Twitter page.
The hour-long online forums give the public a chance to ask a State Police member questions on a variety of topics.
During the Town Hall, Twitter followers are able to ask a question using the NYSP Twitter handle, @nyspolice.
A State Police member who has been designated for the Twitter Town Hall topic then answers the question using the followers handle and the hashtag #NYSPTTH.
State Police are also posting relevant tips and statistics on Twitter throughout the hour-long question and answer session.
Upcoming Twitter Town Hall topics and guests include:
- February 5—SP Dive Team (SCUBA)
- February 12—Winter Preparedness Tips
- February 19—CCSERT (Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team).
To alert followers of the week’s Twitter Town Hall topic, State Police are posting videos and still photos on the division’s social media pages. Posted the day before and day of a Twitter Town Hall, the videos and photos also allow the week’s featured member to introduce themselves to the public.
State Police launched their social media pages in November 2012. The agency now has more than 135,000 followers on Facebook and more than 13,000 followers on Twitter.
The official State Police Facebook and Twitter pages allow the public to learn more about the State Police, its specialty units and members. On the pages, State Police post important public safety information on road closures, crime prevention tips, as well as information on how the public can help in investigations.
