CANAAN–Canaan Town Supervisor Brenda Adams, along with board members David Patzwahl and Will Powers, managed to take action on a variety of town business and upcoming events while board members Brian Lifsec and Ginny Nightingale were out of the country on personal business.
Among items acted upon at the March 11 Town Board meeting:
·Setting April 8 at 7 p.m. for tax grievance public hearing, plus discussion of the new assessment formulas and their impact
·Appointment of Christine Spee Braun to the Zoning Board of Appeals and appointment of Kevin Mulholland as the Zoning Board of Appeals Alternate
·Continuing with hybrid meetings and masking as voluntary personal choice
·Community Gardening Day is set for May 18
·A citizen preparedness course in collaboration with Town of New Lebanon will be held April 26 at 4 p.m. at the Canaan Fire Company
·Accepted bid for Highway Department roof replacement, including removal of old roof, as well as #8 truck repair
·Acknowledged that the town is in the most expensive electricity market in the country and approved a 30-month contract for $0.09 per kilowatt hour
·Comments are still being received on naming the Vandenberg or Vanderburgh Road, with hopes that historic records may help with a rationale.
