GERMANTOWN—Trevor E. Disher, 21, of 41 Disher Lane, Germantown was charged with second degree rape, a class D felony, May 21 at 3:22 a.m., according to a press release from Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett.
On May 19, Sheriff’s deputies were investigating an incident in the Germantown area when they discovered information about a crime involving Mr. Disher. An investigation was initiated which revealed that Mr. Disher had sexual intercourse with a person who was less than 15 years old.
He was arraigned before Germantown Justice Robert Beaury and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail or $40,000 bond. He was scheduled to reappear in court at a later date.
During the investigation, Mr. Disher made admissions about his involvement with the child, the release said.
Investigating for the Sheriff’s Office are Senior Investigator William Foster and Investigator Mark Dunspaugh. Also assisting with the investigation is the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation is continuing. The Sheriff’s Office believes Mr. Disher may have had other victims. The community is urged to contact Investigator Dunspaugh at 518 828-4316 with any information.
Ghent
Ryan D. Fox, 26, of Ghent was charged with third degree assault, a class A misdemeanor, by Deputies Peter Grezskow and Ted Blank, May 9 at 8:43 p.m.
Mr. Fox is accused of punching a male in the face outside a private residence in Ghent. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Ghent Court.
Copake
Jonathan Miles, 22, of Copake was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief, a class A misdemeanor, by Deputy Kelly Briscoe, May 12 at 10:25 a.m.
Mr. Miles allegedly damaged property with his vehicle at the beach area of Taconic Shores. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Copake Court at a later date.
Livingston
Kaishah A. Hall, 23, of Livingston was charged with second degree aggravated harassment, a class A misdemeanor, by Deputies Peter Grezskow and Ted Blank May 14 at 7:34 p.m.
Ms. Hall allegedly made a threatening phone call to a male. She was arraigned in Livingston Court and released on her own recognizance to return June 12.
Valatie
Valatie firefighters were called to Kinderhook and Main streets for an oil spill from a disabled tractor trailer, estimated as 25 to 30 gallons, May 22 at 2:40 p.m. State Police investigated and assisted. The oil spilled on Main Street from Chatham Street to Kinderhook Street. Niverville firefighters provided mutual aid. The state Department of Transportation and the County Fire Coordinators Office were on the scene and the state Department of Environmental Conservation spill response unit was there. At 4 p.m., units were still on scene and Main Street was closed.
Drugs/alcohol
The following face drug- and/or alcohol-related charges:
*Bruce Barnum, 48, of Austerlitz was charged with driving while intoxicated (previous conviction in 10 years), aggravated driving while intoxicated and first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, all class E felonies, by Deputies Peter Merante and Jeffrey Hofstetter, May 14 at 9:41 a.m. Deputies were called to the area of Stonewall Road in Austerlitz for a vehicle that struck a dog. Mr. Barnum is accused of operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition and having a revoked license for a prior DWI conviction. He took a breathalyzer test, which yielded a blood alcohol content result of .23%. He was arraigned in Hillsdale Court and released on his own recognizance. He will appear in Austerlitz Court at a later date.
*Joseph W. Shook, Jr., 26, of Stockport was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor, by K9 Deputies Chad Shufelt and Travis VanAlstyne, May 15 at 8:55 p.m. Mr. Shook was stopped on Atlantic Avenue in Stottville for a traffic infraction. He is accused of being in possession of a quantity of cocaine. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Stockport Court, June 2.
*Michael E. Phillips, 53, of Kinderhook was charged with driving while intoxicated by State Police from Kinderhook, Saturday, May 24 at 1:30 a.m. Mr. Phillips was seen traveling south on State Route 9H, Kinderhook, with two flat tires. When troopers stopped him, they determined that Mr. Phillips had struck a guide rail, left the scene of the accident and was intoxicated. He was subsequently arrested and refused to provide a breath sample. He was issued traffic tickets returnable in Kinderhook Town Court, June 3.
*Ricky Aragona of Gallatin was charged with driving while intoxicated and multiple traffic infractions by State Police, May 27. Troopers responded to a 911 call about a vehicle crashed into a telephone poll on County Route 2 in Livingston. They arrived and found that the driver had left the scene of the accident. Further investigation led them to Mr. Aragona’s residence where he was taken into custody. He was arraigned in Livingston Court and was sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond.
