HILLSDALE—Frank M. Campbell, 32, formerly of Hillsdale, was charged with third degree burglary, a class D felony, April 9 following a lengthy investigation into the burglary of the Cobble Pond Farm Sunoco station in Hillsdale by State Police from the Livingston Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
On August 9, 2013 troopers were called to the Sunoco to investigate a burglary that occurred during the overnight hours. Sometime between 12:45 and 5 a.m., an unknown subject entered the business through a window and stole an undetermined amount of cash. Mr. Campbell was identified as a suspect through DNA evidence found at the scene.
In March of this year, a Superior Court warrant was issued ordering Mr. Campbell’s arrest. When troopers attempted to find him, they discovered he had moved to Arizona.
Assisted by the Arizona Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Mr. Campbell was taken into custody March 28. The New York State Police Violent Felony Warrant Squad brought the suspect back to New York where he awaited arraignment in the Columbia County Jail.
He was arraigned before Columbia County Court Judge Richard M. Koweek on an indictment for third degree burglary, April 15. He is currently lodged in the Columbia County Jail.
Ghent
Donald E. Farrell, 47, of Stuyvesant was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, petit larceny, class A misdemeanors, and trespass, a violation, by State Police from Livingston, May 2 at 9 p.m.
Troopers were called to check out a report about the theft of a blind stolen from hunting grounds on private property. Their investigation revealed that Mr. Farrell allegedly went on the private property without permission and was responsible for the theft of the blind. He was also found to possess several firearms, despite being a convicted felon.
Mr. Farrell was released with tickets and ordered to appear in Ghent Court May 14.
Claverack
Two county men face charges in connection with having sexual contact with two teenage girls.
Sergio A. Fuentes, 20, of Hudson was charged with second degree rape, a class D felony, by State Police investigators from Livingston, April 15 at 2:05 p.m. Investigators also charged Trey B. Clark, 21, of Philmont for sexual misconduct, a class A misdemeanor, April 10 at 1:15 p.m.
On March 21, State Police were asked to investigate a alleged sex offense that occurred about a year prior to being reported to police. A forensic interviewer from the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office was assigned to assist with the investigation, which revealed that Mr. Fuentes had allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl. Mr. Clark allegedly had sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl.
Mr. Fuentes was arraigned in Claverack Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
Mr. Clark was released on an appearance ticket returnable in Claverack Court at a later date.
*Christopher Crosby, 30, of Claverack was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated (blood alcohol content above .18%) and various vehicle and traffic infractions by State Police, April 22 at 9:25 p.m.
Troopers were called to investigate a report that a vehicle struck a house at the intersection of State Route 9H and Stone Mill Road. When they got there they found Mr. Crosby sitting in his vehicle “with an odor of alcohol emanating from him.”
An investigation revealed that Mr. Crosby was driving south on State Route 9H at a high rate of speed. When he was unable to negotiate a corner, his vehicle went off the west side of the road, plowed through brush, road signs and traveled 150 feet before smashing a limousine and coming to rest against a house. The investigating trooper said that if Mr. Crosby had not hit the limo, his vehicle would have gone through the wall of the house.
Mr. Crosby declined medical treatment at the scene. He was given field sobriety tests which he failed. His breath test revealed a .21% blood alcohol content.
Claverack firefighters and the Greenport Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.
A young boxer mix was a passenger in the car. A.B. Shaw firemen handled dog-sitting duties until the driver’s girl friend arrived on the scene.
Mr. Crosby was arraigned in Claverack Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of 1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond to re-appear at a later date.
*Sebastian Maione, 17, of Claverack was charged with second degree promoting prison contraband, a class A misdemeanor, by State Police from Livingston, April 30.
Sebastian, a resident of the Brookwood Secure Center, was charged when he was found in possession of marijuana.
He was issued a ticket ordering him to appear in Claverack Court at a later date.
Drugs/alcohol
The following face drug- and/or alcohol-related charges:
*Charlene R. Moseley, 59, of Greenport was charged with felony driving while intoxicated (previous conviction within 10 years) and aggravated driving while intoxicated, both class E felonies, by Deputies Jason Garvey and Thomas Bagnall, April 22 at 1:36 a.m. Ms. Moseley was stopped on Fairview Avenue in Greenport for using an improper lane. She failed field sobriety tests. A breathalyzer test yielded a blood alcohol content of .18%. She was issued appearance tickets returnable in Greenport Court May 12.
*Douglas G. Shoemaker, 43, of Canaan was charged with driving while intoxicated, first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlawful possession of marijuana and various vehicle and traffic law charges by State Police from New Lebanon, April 23. Mr. Shoemaker was arraigned in New Lebanon Court and ordered to appear in the Austerlitz Court May 8.
*Cory W. Coon, 23, of Stuyvesant was charged with possession of a hypodermic instrument, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third degree aggravated unlicensed operation and several vehicle and traffic law violations by State Police from Kinderhook, April 23. Mr. Coon was pulled over in Stuyvesant. He was issued tickets to appear in Stuyvesant Court at a later date.
*Alexis P. Lerry, 20, of East Fishkill was charged with five counts of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class A misdemeanors, and fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor, by State Police from Livingston, April 27 at 3:46 p.m. Troopers stopped Ms. Lerry for speeding on the Taconic State Parkway in Claverack. During an interview, troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. An investigation revealed that Ms. Lerry was in possession of more than 32 grams of the substance. She was also found to illegally possess pills including oxycodone, xanax and clonazepam. She was issued tickets ordering her to appear in Claverack Court at a later date.
*State Police from Livingston charged two drivers after receiving a call about a hit and run accident on the Taconic State Parkway, April 30 at 11 a.m. A 911 caller said the vehicles involved were southbound on the parkway and exited onto State Route 82 heading west. Troopers located the two vehicles on 82 and stopped them. Their investigation revealed that the 911 caller, Malcolm C. Sidbury, 38, of Albany was southbound in the driving lane when a vehicle driven by Thomas R. Robbins, 57, of Poughkeepsie attempted to pass him and sideswiped his vehicle. During interviews, troopers determined that Mr. Robbins was intoxicated and that Mr. Sidbury was under the influence of drugs. Mr. Robbins provided a breath sample with a blood alcohol content of .25% and was charged with driving while intoxicated, first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and numerous other vehicle and traffic violations. He was issued tickets to appear in Livingston Court May 8. Mr. Sidbury was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and was issued tickets to appear in the same court on the same date.
