NEW LEBANON—A New Lebanon man is behind bars after allegedly giving police a false name more than once.
State Police from New Lebanon charged Casey M. Dodge, 29, of New Lebanon with two counts of second degree criminal impersonation, a class A misdemeanor; second degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor; second degree forgery, a class D felony; first degree falsifying business records, a class E felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, February 10 at 9:18 a.m.
Troopers saw Mr. Dodge driving a vehicle on State Route 20. Police knew that Mr. Dodge had a suspended driver’s license and also an active parole violation warrant, so they stopped his vehicle. While interviewing Mr. Dodge, he allegedly provided the troopers with a false name. They took him into custody and also found him to allegedly be in possession of marijuana.
Further investigation revealed that Mr. Dodge had also allegedly given a false name to police during a December 7, 2013 traffic stop. When police contacted the New Lebanon Court, they found that the tickets that were issued to Mr. Dodge during the December traffic stop were signed and returned to the court by Mr. Dodge, using and signing an alias to avoid arrest.
Mr. Dodge was arraigned in Greenport Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail without bail.
Stockport
A Hudson man faces a long list of charges after he allegedly fled from police.
Victor D. Parker, 51, of Hudson was charged with third degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second degree reckless endangerment, second degree obstructing governmental administration, all class A misdemeanors; along with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation by State Police from Livingston, February 8 at 8:50 p.m.
State Police stopped the vehicle Mr. Parker was driving after they saw it was fail to stay in its lane of travel. During an interview, troopers detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage and the scent of marijuana. Mr. Parker was asked to get out of his vehicle, but instead he allegedly put the vehicle in drive and sped away from the scene. Troopers pursued the vehicle and found it a short time later, overturned. Mr. Parker was taken into custody and transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Parker was found to be in possession of marijuana and hashish. He was issued traffic and appearance tickets ordering him to appear in Stockport Court at a later date.
Kinderhook
Three teenage boys were seriously hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Maple Lane, just east of Dahlgren Road, the night of February 1 at 6:40 p.m.
Columbia County 911 dispatched Sheriff’s deputies to the scene. They determined that a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck operated by a 17-year-old male from Valatie, who was not identified by deputies, was headed west on Maple Lane and for unknown reasons it crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a 2013 Ford pickup truck, operated by Michael J. Spellman, 32, of Rensselaer, according to a press release from Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett
The Chatham Rescue Squad took Mr. Spellman and a 33-year-old woman passenger to Columbia Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The Greenport Rescue Squad took the 17-year-old to Albany Medical Center. Two 14-year-old boys were passengers in the vehicle. They were both taken to Albany Medical Center, one by helicopter and the other by the Valatie Rescue Squad. All three have serious injuries and are listed in critical condition.
The accident is under investigation by Sheriff’s investigators and the Sheriff’s Accident Investigation Team. The Valatie Rescue Squad, Greenport Rescue Squad, Chatham Rescue Squad, Niverville Fire Department and the State Police assisted at the scene.
Claverack
Tyrell Escobar, 16, a resident of the Brookwood Secure Center in Claverack, was charged with third degree assault, a class A misdemeanor, by State Police from Livingston, January 29 at 12:55 p.m.
Tyrell allegedly struck a staff member causing him injury.
He was issued an appearance ticket ordering him to appear in Claverack Court at a later date.
•Stephon Hobson, 17, a resident of the Brookwood Secure Center in Claverack, was charged with third degree assault, a class A misdemeanor, by State Police from Livingston, February 12.
Stephon allegedly struck a center staff member in the face, injuring him.
He was issued a ticket ordering him to appear in Claverack Court at a later date.
•Justin Estremera, 18, a resident of the Brookwood Secure Center in Claverack, was charged with second degree promoting prison contraband, a class a misdemeanor, by State Police from Livingston, February 12. Mr. Estremera allegedly illegally possessed a cellular phone. He was issued a ticket to appear in Claverack Court at a later date.
Greenport
Christopher L. Johnson, 24, of Hillsdale was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property, class e felony, by Deputy Toby VanAlstyne and Investigator Patrick Logue, February 5 at 10:50 a.m.
Mr. Johnson is accused of possessing over $1,400 worth of stolen merchandise from Walmart. He was arraigned in Greenport Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. He will reappear in court at a later date.
*Scott A. Semanick, 45, of Catskill was charged with second degree possession of a forged instrument, a class D felony, by State Police from Livingston, February 11 at 4:50 p.m.
Troopers patrolling state Route 9G, Greenport saw a vehicle being operated with an unauthorized window sticker. When troopers stopped the vehicle, they observed a counterfeit New York State Inspection sticker displayed in the window. An investigation revealed that Mr. Semanick had allegedly placed a replication of a New York State Inspection sticker in window of the vehicle stopped by police.
He was arraigned in Claverack Court and released on his own recognizance and is due back in court March 11.
*Michael J. Whittaker, 33, of Greenport was charged with second degree criminal contempt, a class A misdemeanor, by Deputy Cindy Madison, February 8 at 1:11 p.m. Mr. Whittaker is accused of violating an order of protection. He was arraigned in Claverack Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $250 bail. He is to reappear in court at a later date.
Canaan
Keshawn McMurrin, 17, of the Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth was charged with third degree assault by State Police from New Lebanon, February 7.
Keshawn allegedly punched another student without provocation. The 16-year-old victim was treated and released from Berkshire Medical Center for a concussion, lacerations inside his mouth and possible brain injury.
Keshawn was issued a ticket to appear in Canaan Court at a later date and released to Berkshire Farm staff.
Hudson
Ntchota J. Badila, 24, of Hudson was charged with trespass, second degree obstruction of governmental administration and attempted petit larceny by Hudson Police Officer Brent Rowe at 71 Prospect Avenue, February 14 at 3:47 a.m.
Mr. Badila allegedly entered property and vehicles that did not belong to him and attempted to steal property. He also allegedly obstructed a police investigation by running away from officers and jumping off a retaining wall to keep police from interviewing him. Mr. Badila was apprehended by Hudson Police and taken to the station. He was released with appearance tickets returnable in Hudson City Court February 25.
