CLAVERACK—State Police from Livingston have made several arrests of Brookwood Secure residents in recent weeks.
*Joshua Slingerland, 17, of the Brookwood Secure Center was charged with third degree assault, a class A misdemeanor, January 16 at 1:53 p.m. Joshua allegedly struck a Brookwood staff member in the head several times, causing injury, January 15. He was arraigned in Claverack Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to reappear in Claverack Court February 18.
*Lamont Peebles, 18; Johnny Gibson, 20, and Dontay Cooper, 16, all of Brookwood, were all charged with third degree assault, a class A misdemeanor, January 14 at 1:45 p.m. A Brookwood staff member told police that he was assaulted subsequent to a disturbance where multiple inmates were fighting, December 24. The three were issued appearance tickets and ordered to appear in Claverack Court January 28.
*Travon Collins, 18, of Brookwood was charged with second degree promoting prison contraband, a class A misdemeanor, January 10 at 2:48 p.m. Staff members found Collins to be in possession of a cell phone, which is considered contraband. Mr. Collins was issued an appearance ticket ordering him to appear in Claverack Court at a later date.
*Anfernee Rucker, 19, of Brookwood was charged with second degree harassment, a violation, January 10 at 10:03 a.m. A staff member told police that when he attempted to end a phone call Mr. Rucker made without permission, Mr. Rucker grabbed his arms causing him substantial pain, December 9. Rucker was issued a criminal summons that directed him to appear in Claverack Court at a later date.
Chatham
Kevin C. Bonesteel, 47, of Chatham was charged with second degree assault, a D felony, third degree criminal possession of a weapon, a D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, by State Police from Kinderhook and investigators from Livingston, December 29.
Troopers responded to Mr. Bonesteel’s residence after receiving a 911 call reporting an assault involving a baseball bat. It is alleged that Mr. Bonesteel struck someone in the head with the bat during an altercation in the residence. It is also alleged that he committed the assault in the presence of a six-year-old child who was there.
Mr. Bonesteel was arraigned in Kinderhook Town Court and was committed to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail. He was ordered to reappear in court at a later date.
*Kyle D. Wheeler, 21, of Chatham was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief and third degree menacing, both misdemeanors, by State Police from Kinderhook, January 6 at 8:25 p.m.
Mr. Wheeler allegedly got into a dispute and threatened the victim. When she attempted to call police for help, he allegedly took her phone away.
He was arraigned in Chatham Town Court and released on his own recognizance. He is due to reappear in court January 22.
Kinderhook
Travis L. Konkle, 30, of Kinderhook was charged with third degree assault by State Police from Kinderhook, December 25.
Mr. Konkle is accused of recklessly causing injury to a subject during a dispute at a residence on Rapp Road. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Kinderhook Town Court at a later date.
*Sherry M. Simpson, 47, of Valatie was charged with second degree criminal contempt and third degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, both class A misdemeanors, by Deputies Kris Bauhoff and Jason Garvey, December 25 at 12:15 a.m.
Ms. Simpson is accused of violating an order of protection and taking a car without the owner’s permission. She was arraigned in Kinderhook Town Court and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to return to court January 28.
Ghent
William Powell, 36, of Ghent was charged with felony first degree criminal contempt for allegedly violating an order of protection and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated by State Police from Livingston, December 23.
Troopers were called to a reported domestic dispute and while they were on their way to the residence, the suspect, Mr. Powell left the scene. Shortly thereafter he was stopped by Sheriff’s deputies, who detained him for State Police.
Mr. Powell was arraigned in Ghent Court and was sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or bond. He was to reappear in Ghent Court at a later date.
Hillsdale
Russell Viccaro, 32, of Catskill was charged on a warrant for first degree criminal contempt, a class E felony, and second degree aggravated harassment, a class A misdemeanor, by Deputy Peter Merante, December 19 at 7:53 a.m. Mr. Viccaro is accused of violating an order of protection. He was arraigned in Hillsdale Court and released on his own recognizance pending a return court appearance at a later date.
*Isaiah J. Walker, 28, of Yonkers was charged with first degree criminal contempt, a class E felony, by Deputies David Proper and Thomas Bagnall, December 27 at 12:50 p.m.
Mr. Walker is accused of violating an order of protection. He was arraigned in Hillsdale Court and released on bail. He is scheduled to return to court January 22.
New Lebanon
Steven W. Martin, 51, of New Lebanon was charged with second degree assault, a class D felony, by State Police from New Lebanon, January 12 at 3:20 a.m.
While on routine patrol, troopers saw a disoriented subject walking on State Route 22. They stopped to check the welfare of the subject who told them that he or she was the victim of an assault.
An investigation revealed that the victim had been injured by Mr. Martin, who was arraigned in Livingston Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.
*Jeremy R. Springstube, 23, of New Lebanon was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief by State Police from New Lebanon, December 30.
Troopers were dispatched to a residence on Schoolhouse Road for a man damaging property. Mr. Springstube is accused of damaging the property of another person without permission.
He was arraigned in New Lebanon Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond. He was scheduled to reappear in New Lebanon Court at a later date.
Stockport
Daniel P. Reuter, 32, of Stockport was charged with second degree criminal contempt, a class A misdemeanor, by Deputies Joshua Oakes and Louis Bray, January 1 at 10:50 a.m.
Mr. Reuter is accused of violating an order of protection. He was arraigned in Stockport Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $500 bail. He is due back in court at a later date.
Valatie
Jonathan M. Doty, 28, of Canaan was charged with false personation, a class B misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a violation, by State Police from Kinderhook, January 3 at 10:20 p.m.
Troopers responded to a disturbance at a Valatie area business where Mr. Doty was allegedly attempting to kick in the door. When troopers arrived, Mr. Doty allegedly became disorderly and repeatedly provided them with a false name. He was issued tickets ordering him to appear in Kinderhook Town Court at a later date.
Greenport
Dennis M. Bacon, 49, of Coxsackie was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief, a class A misdemeanor, by State Police from Livingston, January 3 at 8:15 p.m.
Columbia County 911 dispatched troopers to investigate a report of an intoxicated male at a Greenport club.
Witnesses told police that Mr. Bacon became irate when he was asked to leave the premises, exited the building and damaged vehicles in the parking area by kicking them and throwing things at them.
Mr. Bacon was issued a ticket ordering him to appear in Greenport Court at a later date.
Claverack
Michael J. Whittaker, 33, of Greenport was charged with second degree criminal contempt, a class A misdemeanor, by Deputy William Dunspaugh, January 2 at 6:30 p.m.
Mr. Whittaker allegedly violated an order of protection. He was arraigned in Claverack Court and held in lieu of $250 bail. He was scheduled to reappear in court at a later date.
Drugs/alcohol
The following face drug- and/or alcohol-related charges:
*Marie A. Chambers, 21, of Hillsdale was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, by State Police from Livingston, December 20 at 10:13 p.m.
Troopers found Ms. Chambers to be intoxicated after they saw the vehicle she was operating fail to maintain its lane of travel and pulled her over in Hillsdale. Ms. Chambers provided a breath sample which yielded a .19% blood alcohol content. She was issued traffic tickets ordering her to appear in Hillsdale Court January 15.
*Scott E. Tousant, 50, of Ghent was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, by State Police from Livingston, December 20 at 8:30 p.m. Tousant was discovered to be intoxicated after troopers saw the vehicle he was operating fail to maintain its lane of travel and pulled him over on State Route 66, Ghent. Mr. Tousant gave a breath sample which yielded a .15% blood alcohol content. He was ordered to appear in Ghent Court at a later date.
*Jaime L. Miller, 28, of Craryville was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, by State Police from Livingston, December 22 at 5:39 a.m. Troopers found Mr. Miller to be intoxicated during an investigation into an accident on County Route 27B, Claverack. He provided a breath sample which yielded a .16% blood alcohol content. He was issued traffic tickets ordering him to appear in Claverack Court.
*Eric R. Coons, 28, of Hudson was charged with driving while intoxicated and having a blood alcohol content greater than .08%, both misdemeanors, by Deputy Kris Bauhoff and Deputy Jason Garvey in Stockport, December 25 at 3:09 a.m. Mr. Coons submitted to a breathalyzer test which yielded a .12% blood alcohol content. He was issued tickets returnable in Stockport Court at a later date.
*Victoria E. Revene, 19, of Claverack was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, by State Police from Livingston, December 27 at 11:30 p.m. Ms. Revene was pulled over for an equipment violation and was found to be impaired by drugs. A State Police Drug Recognition Expert was utilized to confirm impairment. She was issued traffic tickets ordering her to appear in Claverack Court at a later date.
*Claire E. Neilson, 26, of Schodack Landing was charged with driving while intoxicated by State Police at Kinderhook, December 28. Troopers were dispatched to Parker Hall Road in Niverville for a motor vehicle accident. While interviewing the operator of the vehicle, Ms. Neilson, it was discovered that she was intoxicated. Ms. Neilson was placed in custody and provided a breath sample with a .08% blood alcohol content. She was issued tickets for DWI and failure to use designated lane which are returnable in Kinderhook Town Court, January 21.
*Joshua Burke and Max Teichert, both 20, of Pittsfield, MA, face drug charges as a result of a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway in Taghkanic by State Police from Livingston, January 1. Mr. Burke was operating an older model BMW northbound when a trooper stopped the vehicle for speeding. During the stop, Mr. Burke was found to be in possession of about 2.5 grams of ketamine and less than 25 grams of marijuana. Mr. Burke was charged with fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He was arraigned in Taghkanic Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail. Mr. Teichert was issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana and released.
*Jimi D. Hawes, 38, of Albany was charged with felony driving while intoxicated by State Police from New Lebanon, January 1 at 1:17 a.m. Troopers saw Mr. Hawes stopped on the eastbound shoulder of Route 20 in New Lebanon and stopped to check on his welfare. They determined that Mr. Hawes was intoxicated. He was placed in custody and refused to submit to a chemical test. He has one prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years and his driving privileges are currently suspended. He was additionally charged with felony the first degree unlicensed operation. He was arraigned in New Lebanon Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $5,000 bond. Mr. Hawes was scheduled to reappear in court at a later date.
