STOCKPORT—Authorities received a report about a man attempting to sexually abuse a young child, October 7.
Through investigation by State Police from Livingston assisted by the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined that Justin M. Hotaling, 20, of Greenport allegedly lured a child in attempts to engage in sexual contact during the summer at a Stockport residence.
Police charged Mr. Hotaling with one count of luring a child, a class D felony, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, October 8 at 7:41 p.m.
He was arraigned in Greenport Court before Town Justice Robert Brenzel and sent to the Columbia County Jail without bail.

Greenport
Craig Sutton, 30, of Livingston was charged with fourth degree grand larceny, a class E felony; first degree falsifying business records, a class E felony and second degree criminal possession of forged instrument, a class D felony, by State Police investigators from Livingston, September 20.
Investigators received a complaint from a local business owner, who believed Mr. Sutton, an employee, was stealing money from the business, September 13. An investigation resulted in Mr. Sutton’s arrest. He was arraigned in Greenport Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail.
Hudson
Demetrius Smith, 30, of Hudson was charged with second degree obstruction of governmental administration and disorderly conduct (creating a dangerous act) by Hudson Police Officer Randy Clarke at 718 Columbia Street, September 7 at 3:11 a.m.
Mr. Smith was in a public establishment when he alarmed a patron who called 911. When officers attempted to interview Mr. Smith he allegedly repeatedly refused to cooperate and would not provide his name to them.
He was taken into custody, arraigned before Judge Mark Portin and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or bond.
*Aaron J. Johnson, 23, of Hudson was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct (fight/violent behavior) by Hudson Police Officer Jacob Hoffman at 718 Columbia Street, September 7 at 3:11 a.m.
Mr. Johnson approached a moving Hudson Police car, which was transporting an arrested person, and allegedly struck the rear windows with his hands. After police told Mr. Johnson he was under arrest, he allegedly attempted to flee from officers and physically resisted being placed into custody. He was arraigned before Judge Mark Portin and sent to the county jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or bond.
*Dylan R. Hines, 17, of Hudson was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct (fight/violent behavior) by Hudson Police Officer Nicholas Hodges on Mill Street, September 8 at 11:47 p.m.
Police saw Dylan engaging in violent behavior on the street causing a crowd to form. He allegedly fled on foot from police when they told him he was under arrest. He was released with tickets to appear in Hudson City Court at a later date.
Claverack
A two-car crash in Claverack Friday, October 4 at 4:06 p.m. sent two people to the hospital. The accident, near Hildebrandt’s Trucking at the intersection of Routes 9H/23B and Stone Mill Road, is under investigation by State Police from Livingston. The Valatie Rescue Squad took one person to Columbia Memorial Hospital and the Community Rescue Squad took one person to Northern Dutchess Hospital. Claverack firefighters were on the scene and were clear at 4:58 p.m.
Drugs/alcohol
The following face drug and/or alcohol-related charges:
*John S. Dunn, 48, of Hudson was charged with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation, three counts of failure to keep right on a two-lane road, driving while intoxicated (operating a motor vehicle with a .08 blood alcohol content) and driving while intoxicated (first offense) by Hudson Police Officer Jacob Hoffman at 41 North Second Street, September 8 at 3:21 a.m. During a traffic stop, Mr. Dunn was found to be operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated state. His blood alcohol content was .14%. His driver’s license was found to be suspended for failure to pay a fine. He was released with tickets to appear in Hudson City Court at a later date.
*Jeremy C. Ellithorpe, 27, of Claverack was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and second degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor by State Police from Livingston, September 9 at 10:35 p.m. Troopers saw Mr. Ellithorpe fail to negotiate a turn, go off the road and strike a street sign in Claverack. He failed field sobriety tests. Mr. Ellithorpe provided a breath sample which yielded a blood alcohol content of .12%. He was issued tickets ordering him to appear in Claverack Court.
*Travis Burke, 18, of Kinderhook was charged with an equipment violation and unlawful possession of marijuana by State Police from Kinderhook, September 10. Troopers pulled Mr. Burke over for having faulty equipment on his vehicle and while interviewing him, found him to be in possession of marijuana. He was issued tickets returnable in Kinderhook Town Court at a later date.
*Andrew Millan, 24, and Haydee Lopez, 23, both of the Bronx were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and another passenger in the vehicle, Alfredo Hernandez, 23, of the Bronx was charged with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor, by State Police from Livingston, September 12 at 11 p.m. The vehicle all three were in was pulled over on the Taconic State Parkway in Claverack for multiple vehicle and traffic infractions. Mr. Hernandez was arraigned in Claverack Court and released on $500 cash bail. Ms. Lopez and Mr. Millan were issued tickets ordering them to appear in Claverack Court.
*Andrew J. Richards, 19, of Niverville was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and other vehicle and traffic law violations by State Police from Kinderhook, September 11 at 12:15 p.m. Troopers were dispatched by Columbia County 911 to look for vehicle being operated erratically in the area of Marion Boulevard in Kinderhook. When troopers arrived they found Mr. Richards asleep behind the wheel with the vehicle stopped, in gear, in the oncoming lane of traffic. He was found to be impaired by drugs and issued tickets returnable in Kinderhook Town Court at a later date.
*Bryce A. Barnett, 35, of the Bronx was charged with third degree criminal possession of controlled substance, a class B felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a class B felony; resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration, both class A misdemeanors, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, by State Police from New Lebanon and the Livingston Bureau of Criminal Investigation, September 11 at 10 p.m. Troopers stopped the Barnett vehicle in Canaan for failing to maintain his lane. When they tried to interview Mr. Barnett, he allegedly fled the scene and lead troopers on a foot pursuit. He was taken into custody shortly thereafter. Mr. Barnett was found to be in possession of numerous illegal controlled substances. He was arraigned in Canaan Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail. He was slated to reappear in court at a later date.
