TAGHKANIC—An Ancram man died as a result of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle collision on County Route 11 near the County Route 11A intersection, July 18 at 3:15 p.m.
A 2003 Honda CRV driven by Alan F. Clark, 80, of Ancram and a Ford F-350 pickup truck operated by Kyle Mabey, 23, of Ghent were involved in the crash, in which the truck rolled over and Mr. Clark to become trapped in his vehicle.
Craryville, Hillsdale and Taghkanic firefighters were called to the scene along with the Community Rescue Squad and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
Craryville firefighters extricated Mr. Clark, who was flown to the Albany Medical Center via LifeNet helicopter from a landing zone at the Taconic Hills Central School.
Mr. Clark later died at AMC.
State Police continue to investigate and called in their accident reconstruction team. Livingston State Police Sergeant Brian Colwell said the final accident report could take up to six months to be completed.
Paramedics took one of the people in the truck to AMC while the Community Squad headed to AMC with the other truck passenger and was intercepted by the Chatham Rescue on the way. The road was closed for several hours and Hillsdale and Taghkanic firefighters assisted with traffic control.
Livingston
An Ulster County man was killed in a motorcycle accident the day before he was found in the woods off Manorton Road and County Route 8, July 13 at 8:21 p.m.
Joseph Kelly, 47, of Lake Katrine was operating a 2013 BMW motorcycle eastbound on County Route 8, when for an unknown reason, the motorcycle went off the south side of the road, crossed Manorton Road and travelled into a wooded area, according to Livingston State Police Sergeant Brian Colwell.
Mr. Kelly was last been seen alive July 12 at 5 p.m. and was reportedly on his way to Gallatin at the time of the crash. County 911 dispatched Livingston firefighters, Northern Dutchess Paramedics, Valatie Rescue and a Columbia County coroner to the scene along with State Police. Firefighters were back in service at 1:35 a.m. July 14.
An autopsy was performed by Dr. Jeffrey Hubbard at St. Peter’s Hospital. Mr. Kelly died of severe trauma sustained during the crash, said the sergeant.
Germantown
State Police in Livingston seek assistance from the public to identify two subjects involved in an armed robbery at the Germantown Xtra Mart Convenience Store, Route 9G on July 17 at about 11:30 p.m. The subjects, one armed with a long gun and the other with a silver/black semi-automatic pistol, entered the store and demanded money from the clerk.
Both subjects are believed to be white males with thin builds, between 5’8″ and 5’10″ tall. The shorter of the two suspects is also believed to have been responsible for another armed robbery which occurred at the Blue Stores Xtra Mart, Route 9, Livingston, June 27 at about 11:40 p.m.
During this robbery, the suspect was again armed with a silver/black semi-automatic pistol and wearing what appears to be the same clothing, which includes the same blue/green skull-type mask, according to police.
The Blue Stores Xtra Mart is about 4.5 miles from the Xtra Mart in Germantown.

Hudson
Quick action by Hudson Police Sergeant Randy Clarke and his partner, Officer Brent Rowe, is credited with saving the life of a 17-day-old infant, Aaron Rose, July 16 at 6:26 p.m.
When the newborn’s mother noticed that her child was unresponsive, she called 911. Hudson Police heard the call and were the first to get to the 98 Harry Howard Avenue residence.
When the officers arrived, they found that the infant was not breathing. Sgt. Clarke administered rescue techniques and he was able to get the baby to breath.
The child was subsequently taken to the Albany Medical Center, where he was admitted for observation for a few days and was listed in good/stable condition.
New Lebanon
Kenneth Stevens, 33, of New Lebanon was charged with third degree assault by State Police in New Lebanon, Saturday, July 6.
Mr. Stevens allegedly assaulted a man the evening of July 4 at a New Lebanon location. He was arraigned in New Lebanon Court and released on his own recognizance. He was directed to reappear July 25.
Gallatin
Morgaine Degnan, 19, of Wallingford, CT, was charged with second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a class D felony, unlawful possession of alcohol by a person under 21 and a vehicle and traffic law infraction for speeding by State Police, July 6.
Troopers stopped Ms. Degnan for speeding on the Taconic State Parkway. She was later found to possess bottles of alcohol and multiple forged drivers’ licenses from New Jersey and New York.
She was arraigned in Gallatin Court and released to her parents to re-appear in court at a later date.
Drugs/alcohol
The following face drug- and/or alcohol-related charges:
*Michael W. Brown, 45, of Waltham, MA, was charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of marijuana by State Police, June 29. Police saw Mr. Brown in his vehicle parked in the parking lot of a closed business in Claverack at 3 a.m. Saturday morning. As troopers entered the parking lot to investigate, the vehicle exited the parking lot via a driveway posted “Do Not Enter” and failed to use a directional signal when turning onto State Route 66. During the subsequent traffic stop, Mr. Brown appeared visibly intoxicated and was found in possession of marijuana. He was arraigned in Claverack Court before Justice Michael Brandon and was sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $750 cash bail or $1,500 bond to return to court at a later date.
*Hugh Fisher, 18, of Albany was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana and vehicle and traffic law offenses by State Police in New Lebanon, July 6. Mr. Fisher was stopped by troopers on U.S. Route 20, New Lebanon after they saw him traveling 64 mph in a 45 mph zone. During an interview with Mr. Fisher, troopers detected an odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. He failed field sobriety tests and was issued tickets to appear in New Lebanon Court at a later date.
*Three people in a vehicle pulled over by New Lebanon State Police were charged with drug possession. Troopers conducted a traffic stop on State Route 22 near the intersection of Old Route 20, New Lebanon, July 5 for vehicle and traffic law violations. The driver, Judson M. Cody, 28, of Granville and two other vehicle occupants, also from Granville were found to be in possession of drugs.
Mr. Cody was charged with felony driving while ability impaired by drugs, first degree felony unlicensed operation and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was issued traffic and appearance tickets returnable in New Lebanon Court.
Melinda S. Martelle, 24, was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of hypodermic instruments. She was issued appearance tickets returnable in New Lebanon Court.
Jeremy M. Cary, 28, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and was released with a ticket to appear in New Lebanon Court.
