HUDSON—Hudson Police stumbled onto a robbery in progress when they thought they were responding to a family fight, July 10 at 10:20 p.m.
When police arrived on the scene in the vicinity of Tanners Lane, they discovered they had just interrupted a robbery in progress. Police say four suspects forced a victim into a vehicle where they pistol-whipped him, punched him and threatened him with a knife.
The following were arrested:
*Samir Alygad, 24, of Freehold was charged with first degree robbery, second degree assault and fourth degree conspiracy
*Christopher Albergo, 19, of Climax was charged with first degree robbery, second degree assault, fourth degree conspiracy and second degree menacing
*Ralph Surrano, 19, of Hanacroix was charged with first degree robbery and fourth degree conspiracy
*Christopher Juzapavicus, 20, of Climax was charged with first degree robbery and fourth degree conspiracy.
The victim was a 28-year-old Hudson man, who was treated at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
All four subjects were arraigned in Hudson City Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of no bail. They are scheduled to court at a later date.

Claverack
State Police from Livingston responded to a call on Fish and Game Road, where a local apple farmer reported being threatened by a neighbor with a firearm, July 6.
It seems that the neighbor was upset that the apple farmer was spraying his apple trees.
David Ensign, 64, of Claverack was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a firearm and second degree menacing, both Class A misdemeanors.
He was arraigned in Claverack Court where he was released on his own recognizance. He is set to re-appear in court at a later date.
*Christine E. Foster, 26, of Craryville was charged with misdemeanor driving while ability impaired by drugs, fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation by State Police from Livingston, July 3.
A trooper stopped Ms. Foster on State Route 23 for failure to keep right. She displayed signs of drug impairment and failed standardized field sobriety tests. She was found to be in possession of marijuana, a marijuana smoking device and a double-edged dagger. She was issued numerous tickets ordering her to appear in Claverack Court at a later date.
Chatham
Andreas Konow, 17, of Hudson was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon by State Police at Kinderhook, July 13 at 9:30 a.m.
Troopers stopped Andreas after they saw him throw a firecracker out of the vehicle he was operating.
They subsequently found him to be in possession of a switchblade knife. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Chatham Town Court at a later date.
Stockport
Justin Michael Hotaling, 20, of Stockport was charged with forcible touching and sexual misconduct, class A-misdemeanors, by Sheriff’s Office Investigator John Rivero and Deputy Andrew Broockmann, July 8 at 10:54 a.m. Mr. Hotaling allegedly had inappropriate sexual contact with a 16-year-old female and touched her genitals.
He was arraigned in Stockport Court before Justice John Mabb and released on his own recognizance to return to court at a later date.
Taghkanic
The Dutchess County man struck by lightning at the Lake Taghkanic State Park, Sunday afternoon, July 7 died at Albany Medical Center, Tuesday, July 9 at 2:37 p.m., State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Public Information Officer Randy Simons said this week.
He was one of two people struck at the park as severe thunderstorms with drenching rains swept through the county that afternoon.
“Lightning passed through the body of Daniel R. Quirk, 26, of Millbrook” who was under a tree that was hit at the West Beach, authorities said.
Mr. Quirk went into cardiac arrest and lifeguards started CPR. Northern Dutchess Paramedics took him to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson and then to Albany Medical Center where he was initially listed in critical condition and later died.
The second lightning victim, Amber Markham, 19, a park employee, who was standing near an outlet in the campground store when a current passed through her upper body, was treated at Columbia Memorial Hospital and later released.
Copake
Willard J. Bishop, 46, of Claverack was charged with first degree criminal contempt, a class E felony, by Deputies Peter Merante and Kelly Briscoe, July 4 at 10 p.m.
Mr. Bishop allegedly went to the Copake residence of person who has an order of protection against him. Mr. Bishop was previously convicted of second degree criminal contempt in 2009 for a violation of the same court order. Arraigned before Copake Town Justice John Spencer, Mr. Bishop was sent to the county jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bail bond and directed to return to town court at a later date.
New Lebanon
Morgan W. Sheldon, 38, of Stephentown was charged with second degree criminal contempt by State Police, June 25. While investigating a property damage motor vehicle accident, troopers discovered that the driver and passenger in one of the vehicles were subjects named in a court order of protection. Mr. Sheldon was the respondent listed in a Berkshire County, Massachusetts District Court-issued order protecting the other person in the vehicle.
He was arraigned in New Lebanon Court before Justice Jessica Byrne and released on his own recognizance to reappear July 25.
Loose canteen blamed in crash
Canaan firefighters and Chatham Rescue were called out July 14 at 8:31 p.m. for an accident in which a van slammed into a tree on the grounds of the Berkshire Farm Center, Route 22, Canaan. Three people were hurt in the crash near the chapel. A Richmond Fire Department ambulance provided mutual aide. All patients went to the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA. Chatham Rescue took two patients and Richmond took one. A Berkshire Farm Center employee told authorities a canteen rolled on the floor of the van and got caught in the accelerator causing the accident. State Police investigated. Firefighters were back in service at 9:23 p.m.
Drugs/alcohol
The following face drug and/or alcohol-related charges:
*Crystal L. Angier, 48, of Stuyvesant was charged with felony driving while impaired by drugs, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and a vehicle and traffic violation by State Police, June 5 at 9 p.m. A trooper stopped the Angier vehicle after it pulled out in front of the patrol vehicle in a reckless and unsafe manner. During an interview, Ms. Angier “acted slow and in a lethargic manner with slurred speech,” according to police. She failed sobriety tests. A K-9 “alerted on” drugs in the vehicle. A subsequent search showed the operator was in possession of four bags of heroin, two hypodermic needles and 30 citalopram pills. She refused to take a blood test. She was to appear in Claverack Court.
*Michael J. Liss, 40, of Oak Hill was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misuse of a dealer plate and operating without a seat belt by Sheriff’s Sergeant William Zincio, June 21 at 9:15 a.m. Mr. Liss was pulled over on Janis Street, Greenport. He was subsequently found to be in possession of cocaine. He was released with appearance tickets directing him to the Greenport Court at a later date.
*Carlson G. Tillman, Sr., 48, of Stuyvesant was charged with driving while intoxicated by State Police, June 22. Troopers saw Mr. Tillman fail to signal when turning onto Washington Boulevard in Greenport. He provided a breath sample and was found to have a blood alcohol content of .09%. He was issued tickets to appear in Greenport Court.
*Scott R. Bruno, 47, of Hudson was charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicle and traffic violations by State Police from Livingston, June 23 at 5:40 a.m. Troopers stopped Mr. Bruno for speeding (70 mph in a 55 mph zone) on State Route 9, Livingston. When troopers approached the vehicle they detected the odor of alcoholic beverage. Standardized field sobriety tests were administered, which Mr. Bruno could not perform. He refused to take a breath test. He was arraigned in Livingston Court and released to reappear at a later date.
*Nicholas Hurd, 20, of Hudson was charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicle and traffic violations, June 23. Troopers stopped Mr. Hurd for not wearing his seatbelt while operating a motor vehicle in Copake. They detected the odor of alcoholic beverage when they interviewed him. He was unable to perform field sobriety tests. He submitted to a breath test resulting in a .08% blood alcohol content. Appearance tickets were issued, returnable in Copake Court.
*Melissa Riccio, 47, of Kingston was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, third degree aggravated unlicensed operation and second degree reckless endangerment by State Police from New Lebanon, June 24 at 3 p.m. Troopers arrested Ms. Riccio after receiving a complaint about a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lane of the Taconic State Parkway. Troopers determined that Ms. Riccio was intoxicated and was operating her vehicle with a suspended license. She provided a breath sample of .20% blood alcohol content. Ms. Riccio was ordered to appear in Austerlitz Court at a later date.
*Juan C. Santana, 19, of Cropseyville was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana by State Police from New Lebanon, June 25. Troopers stopped Mr. Santana after he failed to stop at a stop sign and was speeding (56 mph in a 40 mph zone.) An investigation revealed that Mr. Santana and his passengers were smoking marijuana in the car while traveling home from Lebanon Valley Speedway. Passengers Jonathon M. Oswald, 19, of Berlin and Melinda Williamson, 18, of Troy were both charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. All three were issued tickets to appear in New Lebanon Court.
*Andrew P. Sedlock, 49, of Hudson was charged with driving while intoxicated by State Police from Livingston, June 30 at 12:25 a.m. Troopers pulled Mr. Sedlock over for failure to keep right. They interviewed the driver, detected an odor of alcoholic beverage and administered sobriety tests. Mr. Sedlock was found to be intoxicated by alcohol. He submitted to a breath test resulting in a .10% blood alcohol content. He was issued appearance tickets returnable in Greenport Court.
*Tristan J. Giroux, 21, of Athens was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana by State Police from Livingston, June 30 at 2:30 p.m. Troopers received a call about the erratic operation of a yellow Mercedes-Benz on State Route 82, Livingston. They subsequently located the vehicle in the vicinity of Proper Road. They found Mr. Giroux to be impaired by alcohol and marijuana found him to be in possession of marijuana. He was issued appearance tickets returnable in Livingston Court.
*John V. Trager, 24, of Albany was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and other vehicle and traffic violations by State Police from Livingston, July 1. Troopers on parkway patrol stopped Mr. Trager for speeding (74 mph in a 55 mph zone) in Taghkanic. A Department of Motor Vehicles check of his license revealed it was suspended. Additionally, it was learned there were two active warrants out for him from the East Fishkill Court. Mr. Trager was subsequently found to be in possession of amphetamine pills. He was arraigned in Taghkanic Court, posted bail and was ordered to return July 18. He was then turned over to the East Fishkill Police Department.
*Three people were charged with drug-related offenses after State Police from Livingston pulled over the vehicle they were in for having an inadequate tail-light, July 1. When troopers approached the vehicle, they detected the odor of marijuana. Marijuana and methamphetamine were subsequently located in the vehicle. Arrested were: Eric C. Weber, 22, of Hillsdale on charges of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana, second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, second degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and unlicensed operation; Justin L. Fields, 25, of Hudson and Dean Ruggieri, 17, of Poughkeepsie on charges of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana and second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia. All three subjects were arraigned in Claverack Court. Mr. Fields posted $2,500 cash bail. Mr. Weber and Mr. Ruggieri were both sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
