HUDSON—Mohammad H. Morshad, 22, of Hudson was charged with fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, two counts of speed in zone, disobeyed traffic control device, improper/unsafe turn, failure to keep right, driving across hazard markings, failure to comply, unregistered motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and improper license plates by Deputies Jason Garvey and Peter Grzeskow during a traffic stop on Green Street, Hudson, April 10 at 2:16 a.m.
Mr. Morshad allegedly failed to comply with deputies, who were trying to stop him on Fairview Avenue in Greenport for having stolen license plates on his vehicle. Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Brian Molinski and Hudson Police Officer Nick Hodges also assisted. Mr. Morshad will answer the charges in Greenport Court and Hudson City Court at a later date.
*Vaughn Xavier, 46, address unavailable, was charged on a Columbia County probation warrant by Sheriff’s Office Sergeant William Zincio, April 8 at 1:15 p.m.
Mr. Xavier was originally convicted in Columbia County Court June 28, 2011 on felony driving while intoxicated. He was later sentenced to a period of probation. He allegedly violated terms and conditions of his probation and County Court Judge Jonathan Nichols signed the warrant. Mr. Xavier turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office and was arraigned before Judge Nichols, who sent him to the county jail in lieu of bail. He was ordered to return to county court at a later date.
Stockport
Ross Hendrick, Jr., 35, of Stockport was charged with third degree assault and second degree unlawful imprisonment by Deputies Kris Bauhoff and Joshua Oakes, April 7 at 6:50 a.m.
He allegedly forcibly restrained a woman and bit her nose causing physical injury.
Arraigned before Stockport Justice Harold Horner, Mr. Hendrick was released in his own recognizance and ordered to return to town court at a later date.
New Lebanon
Thomas St. John, 27, of New Lebanon was charged with attempted criminal trespass by State Police from New Lebanon, April 14.
Mr. St. John allegedly attempted to gain entry to a residence on Winslow Road. An investigation revealed that he allegedly pushed on exterior windows of the residence with the intention of gaining entry to speak with the homeowner about employment. Arraigned in New Lebanon Court, he was released on his own recognizance and ordered to reappear at a later date.
*Brian Barton, 48, of New Lebanon was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief by State Police from New Lebanon, April 13.
Mr. Barton allegedly damaged property during a dispute. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in New Lebanon Court, April 18.
Hillsdale
David Miller, Jr., 50, of Hillsdale was charged with violating the Town of Hillsdale Leash Law and New York State Agriculture and Markets Dangerous Dog Law by Deputy Christopher Link, April 6 at 11:45 a.m.
Mr. Miller’s dog was allegedly unleashed and went to a neighbors residence, knocked over a child and attacked another dog. Mr. Miller will answer the charges in Hillsdale Court May 8.
Drugs/alcohol
The following face drug- and/or alcohol-related charges:
*Justin Torres, 19, and Jeremy White, 21, both of Stockport, were each charged with unlawful possession of marijuana by Deputy Toby VanAlstyne, March 28 at 10:11 p.m. Mr. White was additionally charged with having inadequate tail lamps during a traffic stop on Fairview Avenue, Greenport. The deputy subsequently found the substance in their possession. They were issued tickets to appear in Greenport Court.
*Thomas McGough, 25, of Oceanside was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and having illegally tinted windows by State Police at Livingston during a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway in Gallatin, April 12. Mr. McGough was issued tickets returnable in Gallatin Court on April 24.
*Lance Williams, 41, of Ghent was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and traffic violations by State Police from Livingston, April 15 at 9:15 p.m. Troopers stopped Mr. Williams for speeding (68 mph in a 55 mph zone) on State Route 23 in Claverack. Troopers detected the odor of alcoholic beverages and administered field sobriety tests which Mr. Williams was unable to perform. He submitted to a breath test which resulted in a .21% blood alcohol content. He was issued tickets returnable in Claverack Court April 23.
*Jeremy White, 21, of Kinderhook was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and inadequate tail lamps by Deputies Patrick Mayo and Andrew Broockmann during a traffic stop on Fairview Avenue, Greenport, April 4 at 9:05 p.m. He was released with tickets to answer the charges in Greenport Court.
*Gabriel Cascante-Borbon, age unavailable, of Stuyvesant was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to use designated lane and unlicensed operation by State Police, April 19.
Troopers pulled him over after seeing him fail to use the proper lane on State Route 9, Valatie when entering the Ocean State Job Lot parking area. Mr. Cascante-Borbon tested at a .15% blood alcohol concentration. He was ticketed to appear in Kinderhook Town Court.
*Jack Sharkey, 25, of Palenville was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content greater than .08% and no operable headlamps by Deputies Peter Grzeskow and Kris Bauhoff during a traffic stop on Route 9G, Germantown, April 14 at 1:52 a.m. Mr. Sharkey was ticketed to appear in Germantown Court May 22.
*Charles F. Johanson, 56, of Catskill was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs and failure to keep right by Deputies Chad Shufelt and Jeffrey Hofstetter during a traffic stop on Gahbauer Road, Ghent, April 11 at 8 p.m. He will appear in Ghent Court May 13.
*Jessica Tobia, 23, of Nassau was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of marijuana and traffic violations by State Police at Livingston during a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway for multiple traffic violations, April 22. While interviewing the operator, the trooper detected an odor of marijuana in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up 7.4 ounces of the substance. She was issued tickets returnable in Claverack Court April 30.

The following cases were dealt with in Columbia County Court before Judge Richard Koweek, April 8 through 16. Information about the cases was provided by the office of Columbia County District Attorney Paul Czajka:
*Keith Babcock’s pre-trial hearing was conducted April 8. He was indicted on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated (having a child-passenger less than 16 years of age in the vehicle. He was arrested by Livingston State Police, August 3, 2012. Represented by Attorney William Rota, Mr. Babcock’s trial begins June 24 at 9 a.m.
*Francisco Fernandez pleaded guilty to third degree robbery, April 11. He was arrested by Hudson Police January 5, 2012. He is represented by the public defender. A joint sentencing recommendation of 2 ½ to 5 years was issued by Assistant District Attorney David Costanzo and Public Defender Robert Linville was issued. Mr. Fernandez will be sentenced May 22 at 11:15 a.m.
*Clayton Powell pleaded guilty to two counts of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol April 11. He was arrested by Sheriff’s deputies February 11, 2011 in Stuyvesant and September 3, 2011 in Kinderhook. He is represented by Attorney Mark Fleury. Sentencing was set for April 24 at 9:45 a.m.
*Jordan Couitt pleaded guilty to second degree robbery, April 16. His sentencing is slated for May 22. He was arrested by the State Police June 9, 2012 and is represented by Attorney Ann Weaver.
*Trevor Heins was arraigned on charges of operate a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08% or more (prior conviction of the designated offense within the past 10 years), driving while intoxicated (previous conviction of designated offense within 10 years) and two counts of refusal to submit to a breath test, April 16. He was arrested by State Police February 7, 2013. His pre-trial hearing(s) are set for July 2 and his trial August 26. His attorney is James Kleinbaum.
*Trent Bowman pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated (previous conviction of designated offense within 10 years) and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08% or more (prior conviction of designated offense within 10 years, April 17. His sentencing is set for June 19. He was arrested by the State Police, January 12 and is represented by the public defender.
