Man jailed for attack in front of kids

HUDSON–Andrew T. Conway, 24, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault (with intent to cause physical injury), third degree burglary, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and criminal obstruction of breathing /blood circulation by Officer Shane Bower at the police station, April 24 at 3:03 p.m.

Police went to an 800 block Warren Street residence for a dispute. Mr. Conway, who was gone when police arrived, allegedly knowingly and unlawfully entered the residence and assaulted and applied pressure to the throat of a 25-year-old woman, while in the presence of two children ages 4 and 1.

 

Arraigned before City Judge Mark Portin, Mr. Conway was sent to jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.

*Richard H. Tomlin, III, 19, of Claverack was charged with endangering welfare of child by Officer Brent Rowe at the police station, May 8 at 2:46 p.m.

Mr. Tomlin was charged on a warrant in connection with an April 23 incident in which he allegedly sent inappropriate/sexual in nature text messages to a 15-year-old girl.

He was arraigned before City Judge John Connor and released. The judge issued order of protection for the girl.

*Edward Leonard Simmons, 53, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault (with intent to cause physical injury) by Officer Kevin Sweet at the police station, May 8 at 8:49 a.m.

Mr. Simmons was charged on a warrant in connection with a March 19 incident at 508 State Street during which he punched a 54-year-old man in the face and caused physical injury. City Judge Mark Portin released Mr. Simmons with an appearance ticket.

*Corey L. Cooke, 34, of Hudson was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief (intent to damage property), two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and second degree harassment (physical/repeated) by Officer Brent Rowe at the police station, May 21 at 8:54 a.m.

Mr. Cooke got into a dispute with a woman at Bliss Towers and allegedly smashed her TV on the floor and threatened her in front of her two children.

Arraigned before City Judge John Connor, Mr. Cooke was sent to the county jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or bond.

*Anthony F. Lipari, 34, of Hudson was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance by Detective Jason Finn at 512 Columbia Street, May 19 at 12:55 a.m.

Mr. Lipari was in the front passenger seat of a vehicle when he was interviewed in connection with suspicious activity. He was subsequently found to be in possession of eight glassine envelopes each containing a brown powdery substance that field tested positive for heroin.

He was issued a ticket to appear in court.

*Nancy U. Khan, 34, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault (recklessly causing physical injury) and two counts of endangering the welfare of child by Officer James Nero at the police station, May 21 at 8:41 p.m.

Ms. Khan turned herself in on warrant. She was involved in a dispute on State Street during which she allegedly threw a glass at a man inflicting injury in front of two children. She was arraigned before City Judge John Connor and released.

*Robin James Galvano, 41, of Eastchester was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property (credit card) by Officer Nicholas Hodges at the police station, May 22 at 9:13 a.m.

Mr. Galvano was charged on a warrant in a case dating back to March when he was found to allegedly possess a stolen credit card, which he intended to use. He was arraigned before City Judge John Connor and released.

*Ntchota J. Badila, 22, of Hudson was charged with second degree menacing (weapon) and petit larceny by Officer Nicolas Pierro at the police station, May 30 at 3:58 p.m.

Mr. Badila turned self in on warrant following an investigation by police. He was allegedly stealing items from a vehicle when he was caught by the vehicle owner. Mr. Badila fled, but the owner found and confronted him and Mr. Badila allegedly threatened him with a knife.

Arraigned before City Judge John Connor, Mr. Badila was sent to jail in lieu of $250 cash bail or $1,000 bond.

*Brandon A. Hicks, 24, of Hudson was charged with third degree criminal possession of a weapon (previous conviction), disorderly conduct (fighting/violent behavior) and unlawful possession of marijuana by Sergeant James Delaney, Jr., May 31 at 11:58 p.m.

Police responded to 744 Warren Street for a report of a fight involving weapons. Mr. Hicks allegedly fought with Jonathan and Wiley Patrick Jones and then threatened them with a large machete. Upon being arrested, he was found to allegedly possess marijuana.

Mr. Hicks was arraigned before City Judge John Connor and sent to jail without bail.

In related arrests: Jonathan Jones, 43, of Hudson was charged with disorderly conduct (fighting/violent behavior) and third degree criminal possession of a weapon (previous conviction) by Detective Jason Finn, May 31 at 11:58 p.m.

Mr. Jones allegedly fought with Mr. Hicks at 744 Warren Street and threatened him with a large piece of wood. Arraigned before City Judge John Connor, Mr. Jones was sent to jail without bail.

Wiley Patrick Jones, 41, of Hudson was charged with disorderly conduct (fighting/violent behavior) by Detective Finn, May 31 at 11:58 p.m.

Mr. Jones allegedly fought with Mr. Hicks at the same location. He was arraigned before Judge Connor and released.

*Luckner Decarde, 55, of Hudson was charged with fourth degree grand larceny (value greater than $1,000) by Officer Kevin Sweet at 512 Warren Street, June 1 at 1:24 p.m.

Mr. Decarde allegedly made off with two bracelets valued in excess of $1,000 from a Warren Street jewelry store, May 31. On June 1, a jewelry store employee told saw Mr. Decarde on Warren Street near the police station and notified officers, who located him near Fifth and Warren and took him into custody.

He was arraigned before City Judge John Connors and jailed without bail.

Drugs/alcohol

The following face drug and/or alcohol-related charges:

*Ernest Jawon Hartfield, 37, of Hudson was charged with resisting arrest, fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (cocaine possession with intent to sell) by Detective Jason Finn at 318 State Street, March 25 at 8:36 p.m.

Mr. Hartfield allegedly possessed eight grams of an off-white chunky substance that field tested positive for crack cocaine. When he was advised that he was under arrest, he allegedly physically resisted being taken into custody and attempted to flee until he was subdued.

He was arraigned before City Judge John Connor and sent to jail without bail.

*City police conducted a detail to monitor the sale of alcohol to minors and made two arrests. Ali M. K. Alamri, 49, of Hudson was charged with a violation of the alcoholic beverage control law for prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage and first degree unlawfully dealing with a child by Detective David Miller, Jr., at 534 Warren Street, March 30 at 8:26 p.m.

Mr. Alamri, a package store clerk, allegedly sold alcohol to person under 21 and did not check identification.

Also charged during the same detail was Nazma Begum, 46, of Hudson for a violation of the alcoholic beverage control law for prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage and first degree unlawfully dealing with a child by Officer Nicolas Pierro at 44 North Third Street, March 30 at 10:16 p.m. She also allegedly did not check identification and sold alcohol to a person under 21. They were both issued appearance tickets returnable in City Court.

*Hudson Police arrested two men following a Detective Unit investigation into drug sales on South Front Street, July 20.

Michael P. Snyder, 22, of Hudson was charged with fourth degree criminal sale of marijuana and fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana. He allegedly sold less than 25 grams of marijuana to Robert W. McCagg while in public view.

Mr. McCagg, 23, of Stottville was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after police saw him with the marijuana he purchased from Mr. Snyder. He was additionally charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle for driving with a suspended license.

Detective Jason Finn, Officer Dean Rowe, Officer William Wrigley, Officer Jeffrey Keyser and Officer Daniel Scali made the arrests and conducted the investigation. Both subjects were released on $150 stationhouse bail with appearance tickets for City Court.

*Richard F. Gordon, 31, of Hillsdale was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving the wrong direction on one way street, operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device, and second degree aggravated unlicensed operation (three or more suspensions on three or more dates) by Officer Patrick Meister, June 5 at 5:15 p.m. Mr. Gordon was pulled over at 34 North Fifth Street because he was allegedly driving the wrong way on a one-way street. He was found to have a revoked license, to be operating a vehicle without an interlock device and to possess a glassine envelope containing an off-white powdery substance which field tested positive for heroin. Mr. Gordon was arraigned before City Judge Mark Portin and sent to the county jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond.

Charged in connection with the same incident by Officer Kevin Sweet was Kirsten N. Wenhardt, 26, of Elizaville, who was issued tickets for facilitating the second degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and the rental, lease or loan of a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device.

She allegedly allowed Mr. Gordon to operate her vehicle while his license was suspended and allowed him to operate a motor vehicle without an interlock device under Leandra’s law.

*Anthony J. Traficante, 43, of Stuyvesant was charged with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a traffic device violation (red light), failure to stop at a stop sign, driving while intoxicated (operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08% and driving while intoxicated (first offense) by Officer Jacob Hoffman, June 10 at 11:21 p.m.

Mr. Traficante was pulled over at 532 State Street when the officer saw him fail to stop for a red light and a stop sign. A check of the state data base revealed that Mr. Traficante’s license was suspended with one scoff on one date. Mr. Traficante failed field sobriety tests. He submitted to a chemical breath test which determined his blood alcohol content was over the legal limit. He was issued tickets to appear in City Court.
