HUDSON–City Police are looking for the owners of two Doberman Pincher-type dogs that caused injury to a woman in the City Cemetery off of Ten Broeck Lane, December 1 at around 1:40 p.m.
The unleashed dogs jumped on the back of Nancy Smith of Claverack. Ms. Smith fell during the attack and broke her right wrist.
Two city employees were working at the cemetery when they were approached by Ms. Smith who told them she had just been attacked by the dogs.
The workers told police the woman was injured and that as they were calling police and an ambulance, she walked away, got into a grey minivan and drove out of the cemetery onto State Route 23B. Ms. Smith drove herself to the Columbia Memorial Hospital Emergency Room, where they set her wrist and released her.
The dog owners are described as a Caucasian man wearing a red hunting type coat and a Caucasian woman wearing a black scarf. No other descriptions or information is available.
Police later reported they spoke to Ms. Smith December 3 after a citizen heard about the attack and called them. Ms. Smith told them she did not want to file a complaint against the dog owners and would not pursue the matter further.

*Summer L. Smith, 28, of Cairo was charged with third degree falsely reporting an incident by Officer Dean Rowe, October 29 at 2:38 p.m.
Ms. Smith was picked up by Greene County Sheriff’s deputies and turned over to Hudson Police on an active City Court bench warrant.
She allegedly made several calls to 911, when no emergency was in progress, September 7.
Arraigned before City Judge Mark Portin, Ms. Smith was jailed in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.
*Jovina L. Shivers, 28, of Hudson was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief by Officer Mishanda Franklin, October 31 at 12:23 p.m.
Hudson Police were called to 41 North Second Street for a fight in progress. Ms. Shivers allegedly damaged a 32″ flat screen television during the incident.
She was arraigned before Judge Richard Koweek and released.
Drugs/alcohol
The following face drug- and/or alcohol-related charges:
*Christopher Mariani, 44, of Catskill was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, inadequate tires, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, third degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a motor vehicle on a public highway while using a mobile phone by Officer Shane Bower, October 8 at 4:29 p.m. Mr. Mariani was pulled over at 700 State Street after the officer saw him driving while talking on a cell phone. After running a license check, the officer found that Mr. Mariani’s license was revoked and suspended. During a subsequent search, the officer found a broken glass crack stem (pipe) that field tested positive for crack cocaine. Arraigned before Judge Mark Portin, Mr. Mariani was jailed in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or bond.
*Austin A. Suarez, 16, of Hudson was charged with two counts of resisting arrest, fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (cocaine and heroin) at 80 North Sixth Street by Officer William Wrigley October 13 at 7:59 p.m. Hudson detectives with assistance from patrol officers were on a narcotics enforcement detail when they got a tip about drug dealing going on near North Sixth Street. Officers saw narcotics-related activity and approached the suspect, Austin, who fled on foot. After a short foot chase, Austin was apprehended, allegedly with crack cocaine and heroin. After being placed in custody and handcuffed, he allegedly again attempted to flee the officers. He allegedly had more than 500 milligrams of cocaine and heroin which he allegedly intended to sell. Also recovered and seized during the investigation was $543.25 in cash.
Arraigned before Judge Richard Koweek, Austin was jailed in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond. The investigation is ongoing. *Scott C. Ultimo, 31, of Chatham was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, failure to keep right, improper turn/fail to signal, driving while intoxicated (DWI), operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content greater than .08%, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway, felony second offense DWI, aggravated DWI (blood alcohol content .18% or higher) by Officer Kevin Sweet, October 16 at 1:0 a.m.
Mr. Ultimo was pulled over at 921 Columbia Street for a signal violation and failure to keep right. He displayed characteristics of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. Arraigned by City Judge Richard Koweek, Mr. Ultimo was jailed in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.
*Billy J. Simpson, Jr., 22, of Hudson was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (narcotic drugs with intent to sell, dangerous drug–30 oxycodone pills), fifth degree criminal possession marijuana (more than 25 grams–about 40 grams of marijuana) and criminal possession weapon (.22 caliber Ruger 10/22 assault rifle with pistol grip and folding stock by Officer Jason Finn, October 25 at 10:11 p.m.
Hudson Police detectives and patrols executed a search warrant at 208 State Street at that the above time and date and seized drugs, a weapon and ammunition.
In connection with the same incident, Officer Finn also charged Shaquita V. Fernandez, 19, of Hudson with criminal possession weapon for allegedly possessing the assault rifle.
Both Mr. Simpson and Ms. Fernandez were arraigned before City Judge Mark Portin and both were sent to jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
*Peter G. Colarusso, 30, of Ghent was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance by Lieutenant Richard Paolino, November 1 at 2:01 p.m.
When police were interviewing Mr. Colarusso at 201 Warren Street about narcotics activity on South Second Street, he allegedly attempted to discard a piece of crack cocaine which he just purchased. The evidence was recovered and field tested positive. Police also seized $800 in U.S. currency pending possible local forfeiture action.
