CLERMONT–State Police charged three people in connection with using drugs while they were supposed to be babysitting.
Columbia County 911 dispatched Northern Dutchess Paramedics and the Clermont Fire Company to a report of a cardiac arrest at a residence on County Route 6, June 3. The State Police from Livingston responded to assist. Troopers arrived before the paramedics and assisted the homeowner with cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The victim, Lisa Gille, 46, was revived and taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital.
The subsequent investigation revealed that Ms. Gille and her daughter Devan Marano, 23, of Clermont were injecting heroin which caused the cardiac arrest. It was revealed that Ryan Potts, 25 of Elizaville was present as well.
While using the illegal substance, police say, the three were caring for a 2-year-old child who was present during the incident. After calling 911 and reporting the medical incident, Ms. Marano and Mr. Potts allegedly tampered with the evidence at the scene by cleaning up and discarding it along the highway as they fled the scene.
All three were arrested at the Livingston barracks June 4. Ms. Gille was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child. Ms. Marano was charged with tampering with physical evidence, third degree falsely reporting an incident and endangering the welfare of a child. Mr. Potts was charged with tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a child. All were issued appearance tickets returnable in Clermont Court June 16. Columbia County Child Protective Services has been advised and is investigating.
Valatie
State Police at Kinderhook made several arrests for burglary after a dwelling in Valatie was broken into and numerous items taken. State Police recovered many of the stolen items. The following subjects were charged with second degree burglary, May 19: Thomas Burrall, 16; Michael Minahan, 16; and Heather Desrosiers, 18, all of Valatie. They were arraigned in Chatham or Kinderhook Court and released to reappear in Valatie Court at a later date.
Additionally a 15-year-old was also charged with second degree burglary and issued a juvenile appearance ticket returnable at the Columbia County Probation Department.
Kinderhook
Donald Snyder, 20, of Rensselaer was charged with second degree criminal contempt, sexual misconduct and fourth degree criminal mischief by State Police at Kinderhook, May 29.
Mr. Snyder was allegedly in the home of a person who had a court order of protection against him. While there, he allegedly engaged in sexual contact with another household resident and when caught by the homeowner, damaged a window while trying to escape. He was arraigned in Chatham Court and jailed in lieu of $1,500 bail.
Claverack
Reginald T. Shook, Jr., 50, of Livingston was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle (felony), reckless driving (misdemeanor) and several vehicle and traffic violations by State Police at Livingston, May 30.
At about 7 p.m., troopers responded to a report of an ATV being operated on the road in Copake. Troopers later found the ATV being driven on County Route 27 in the vicinity of Reservoir Road in Claverack.
When troopers activated their emergency lights in attempt to stop the ATV, the operator, Mr. Shook suddenly put on his brakes and struck the rear of a vehicle that had slowed down upon seeing the State Police emergency lights. No damage was caused to the hit vehicle, but the ATV subsequently rolled over. Mr. Shook refused medical treatment at the scene from rescue squad personnel. He was interviewed and placed into custody for DWI. He provided a breath sample revealing a .14% blood alcohol content. He was arraigned in Claverack Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail without bail.
New Lebanon
Jason Nestler, 26, of New Lebanon was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, also a felony, and operating an ATV on the roadway by Trooper Nicholas Lombardi, May 21.
Mr. Nestler rolled over his all-terrain-vehicle on Lovers Lane, injuring his right hand and arm. The Chatham Rescue Squad took Mr. Nestler to the Albany Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. He was ticketed to appear in New Lebanon Town Court.
