HUDSON–Charles D. Weed, Jr., 33 of Hudson was charged with leaving the scene of an accident; failure to keep right on a two-lane road; driving while intoxicated, first offense; and aggravated DWI, having a blood alcohol content of .18% or higher by Hudson Police Officer James P. Nero, March 16 at 1:45 a.m.
Columbia County 911 dispatched Hudson Police along with Hudson firefighters and the Greenport Rescue Squad to an accident in which a truck had crashed into a utility pole and brought wires down near the County Court House.
Police report that Mr. Weed was driving a 1993 Ford Ranger east on East Allen Street, when he failed to negotiate the turn onto West Court Street, travelled up on the sidewalk and struck the pole. Mr. Weed fled the scene and was found at a State Street residence. Police administered sobriety tests that he failed to pass and he submitted to a breath test. After processing at the police station, Mr. Weed was released with tickets to appear in court.
*Vaughn W. Xavier, 44, of Hudson was charged with leaving the scene of an accident; fail to keep right on a two-lane road; stopping, standing or parking on the highway; driving while intoxicated, second offense; aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of .18% or higher by Hudson Police Officer Nicolas M. Pierro, February 24 at 6:45 p.m.
A citizen reported a hit and run property damage accident on State Street. Police found the vehicle involved on North Third Street. While the driver was trying to negotiate a turn, police saw that the vehicle had front-end damage consistent with the hit and run call. Police stopped the vehicle at 321 Long Alley. Mr. Xavier was identified as the operator and he failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to police headquarters, where a breath test was administered and he was held for arraignment. He was sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $3,500 cash bail or $7,000 bond.
*Frederick R. Jones, 54, of Hudson was charged with third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, cocaine-possess/selling by Hudson Police Officer Kevin D. Sweet, March 17 at 1:43 p.m.
Mr. Jones was arrested on a signed felony complaint at 237 Allen Street following an investigation by Hudson Police and the State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team. Mr. Jones allegedly sold crack cocaine to an undercover police officer March 10.
He was arraigned and sent to the county jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
*Tyrell A. Butler, 29, of Hudson was charged with second degree criminal contempt, disobeying a court order by Hudson Police Officer Jacob Hoffman, III, March 17 at 8:30 a.m.
Mr. Butler allegedly violated an order of protection issued by City Court Judge Mark Portin February 10 by contacting the protected party by mail February 25. He was arraigned before Judge Richard Koweek and released.
On February 10 at 9:58 p.m., Mr. Butler was charged on an active City Court arrest warrant for second degree unlawful imprisonment; third degree attempted assault, with intent to cause physical injury; and criminal obstruction breathing/blood circulation by Hudson Police Officer Dean A. Rowe.
Police say they went to an apartment at 324 Warren Street to investigate disturbance, but that Mr. Butler had fled the scene before they got there.
He allegedly pushed a 28-year-old woman to the ground, blocked her mouth and nose with his hands and held her against her will.
Arraigned before Judge Portin, Mr. Butler was jailed in lieu of $500 cash bail or bond.
*Amber M. Johnson, 28, of Hudson was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and permitting an unlicensed operator of a motor vehicle by Hudson Police Officer Mishanda F. Franklin, March 17 at 8:34 p.m.
Ms. Johnson allegedly allowed a 15-year-old to drive her motor vehicle on a public road in the City of Hudson. She was taken into custody at 449 State Street and transported to the police department for processing. Ms. Johnson was released following arraignment.
*Maurice T. Jones, 21, of Hudson was charged with third degree attempted assault, with intent to cause physical injury, by Hudson Police Officer Dean Rowe, February 6 at 3:19 p.m.
Police were called to 15 North Front Street for a call about a man holding a woman down. Mr. Jones allegedly punched and slapped a 24-year-old woman in the face several times intending to cause injury. He was arraigned before Judge Richard Koweek and released.
*Cody S. Rivenburgh, 18, of Hudson was charged with fifth degree criminal possession marijuana, public place, and endangering the welfare of child by Hudson Police Officer Mishanda F. Franklin, February 18 at 11:50 a.m.
Mr. Rivenburgh was allegedly caught by Hudson High School staff smoking marijuana from a pipe with a 16-year-old Stottville boy while on school grounds at 215 Harry Howard Avenue.
He was arraigned before Judge Richard Koweek and released.
The 16-year-old was charged with fifth degree criminal possession marijuana, public place, and subsequently turned over to his parents.
