HUDSON–City Police are currently investigating the attempted robbery of a 50-year-old Hudson man, a taxi cab driver, Friday, March 11 at about 3:42 p.m. near the intersection of State and North Third streets.
The taxi was travelling north on North Third Street from State Street when three teenage males crossed in front of him.
One of the suspects opened the taxi door and demanded money. The driver refused to give up any money and was punched in the face by one of the suspects. The driver then got out of the vehicle and was beaten by the other two suspects until a passing motorist yelled at them, police said.
The driver suffered facial injuries during the assault.

*Jeremy J. Kelly, 30, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault, with criminal negligence causing injury with a weapon, and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, intent to use, by Hudson Police Officer Daniel T. Scali, March 12 at 2:57 a.m.
Police were called to quell a fight at “an establishment” at 321 Warren Street. They allege that Mr. Kelly struck a 26-year-old Stuyvesant man in the face with a glass. Police took the victim to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Mr. Kelly was released with appearance tickets pending a future court date.
*Ronald G. McIver, Jr., 24, of Hudson was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and three counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession and intent to sell and selling cocaine, by Hudson Police Officer Jason Finn, March 10 at 7:06 p.m.
Mr. McIver was seen allegedly selling narcotics during an investigation conducted by Hudson Police with the assistance of the State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) at First and Warren streets.
Police say, Mr. McIver also possessed in excess of a half-ounce of crack cocaine, which he allegedly intended to sell. Police also recovered $1,280 during the investigation. He was arraigned and jailed in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bail bond.
The investigation is continuing.
*Derrik J. Zigler, 34, of Hudson was charged with second degree assault, with intent to cause serious physical injury and fourth degree criminal mischief, intentionally damaged property, by Officer David C. Miller, Jr., March 9, 7:50 p.m.
Mr. Zigler allegedly dragged a 32-year-old Hudson woman out of a van and punched her in the face, inflicting facial fractures. He also allegedly intentionally damaged the woman’s coat when he pulled her out of the van during the dispute at Third and Columbia streets, February 24. He was taken into custody on a warrant at 320 Warren Street.
Arraigned before Judge Richard Koweek, Mr. Zigler was sent to jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bond.
*Hans Peter Spencer, 30, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault, with intent to cause physical injury; fourth degree criminal mischief, intentionally damaged property; and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child by Officer Brent Rowe, March 6 at 1:30 p.m.
Mr. Spencer allegedly assaulted a 27-year-old woman, threw a shoe and broke a TV while in the presence of three children, ages two, three and five. The incident took place at 22 Parkwood Boulevard.
Arraigned before Judge Mark Portin, Mr. Spencer was sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or bond.
*Michelle Lee Moskaluk, 22, of Hollowville was charged on a City Court arrest warrant for second degree criminal contempt, disobeying a court order by Hudson Police Officer Jeffrey F. Keyser at North Fourth and Warren streets, March 14 at 10:02 a.m.
Ms. Moskaluk allegedly violated an active stay away order of protection issued by City Court Judge Richard Koweek by having contact with a 40-year-old man, who was the protected party.
Her bail was set at $250 cash or $500 bond.
While being processed on the arrest warrant at the station, police found Ms. Moskaluk to allegedly possess four oxycontin pills outside of their original container and for which she had no prescription.
She was subsequently charged with possession of a controlled substance not in its original container and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Her bail was set at $250 cash or $500 bond.
While still in at the police station, Ms. Moskaluk was slapped with a second count of second degree criminal contempt because she allegedly again violated a Court Order of Protection by calling the protected party during the booking process for the earlier offenses.
Arraigned before Judge Koweek on all charges, she was jailed in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bail bond.
*Janon L. Butler, 34, of Hudson was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief, intentionally damaged property; first degree criminal contempt, violating a court order of protection by having physical contact with the protected person; and two counts of second degree harassment by Officer Tracey R. Newkirk, March 8 at 8:05 p.m.
Mr. Butler allegedly pushed a 36-year-old woman several times during a fight at her 431 State Street residence, damaged property there and violated a court order. He also allegedly pushed the victim’s woman friend, who was at the residence during the time of the incident.
Arraigned before Judge Richard Koweek, Mr. Butler was sent to jail in lieu of $3,500 cash bail or $7,000 bail bond.
*Christopher J. Cole, 17, of Valatie was charged with third degree attempted assault, with intent to cause physical injury, and fourth degree criminal mischief, intentionally damaged property by Officer Kevin Sweet, March 4 at 4:33 p.m.
Christopher allegedly punched and broke a rear-view mirror and a windshield during a dispute at 949 Columbia Street. He then allegedly threw an almost full cup of warm coffee on a 17-year-old girl getting her head and torso wet.
He was arraigned before Judge Mark Portin and released.
*Alfred A. Evans, 22, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault with intent to cause physical injury and second degree obstruction of governmental administration by Hudson Police Officer Jacob R. Hoffman III, February 17 at 2:06 a.m.
Mr. Evans was taken into custody by Cohoes Police on an active Hudson arrest warrant for the assault charge. He allegedly caused physical injury to a 49-year-old man during a fight at 10 Frederick Street, January 29.
While being processed at the Hudson Police Station, Mr. Evan allegedly refused to give police any “pedigree” information, and would not cooperate with being fingerprinted and photographed during the booking process even after he was warned that it could result in the obstruction charge.
He was arraigned before Judge Richard Koweek on both charges. His bail set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.
*Michael P. Snyder, 21, of Hudson was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief, intentionally damaged property, and third degree attempted assault, with intent to cause physical injury, by Hudson Police Officer Daniel T. Scali, February 11 at 7:43 p.m.
Mr. Snyder turned himself in after allegedly being involved in an altercation in the parking lot of 65 Prospect Avenue, February 10. During the fight, he allegedly punched and kicked a 21-year-old Watervliet woman and broke her cell phone.
He was arraigned before Judge Mark Portin and held in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or bond.
