STUYVESANT — Ronaldo A. Martel, III, 19, of Greenport and Abu “Max” Husan, 24, of Hudson were charged with second degree rape, a class D-felony.
The two men allegedly engaged in sexual activity with two teenage girls under the age of 15, according to a press release from Columbia County Sheriff David Harrison, Jr.
The incidents occurred January 17 at a location off County Route 26A in Stuyvesant.
The mother of one of the victims contacted the Sheriff’s Office after she received a telephone call from her daughter, who was apparently in distress and not feeling well. The vehicle the victims were in was found on North Front Street in the City of Hudson.
Deputies Jason Garvey and Andrew Broockmann began the investigation and were assisted by Investigators Patrick Logue, Mark Dunspaugh and Deputy Peter Grzeskow.
Also assisting with the investigation was the Childs Advocacy Center in Greenport.
Mr. Husan was taken into custody January 17 at 9:51 p.m., arraigned by Stuyvesant Justice Joseph Bruno and sent to the county jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond.
Mr. Martel was taken into custody January 21 at 5:20 p.m., arraigned by Stuyvesant Justice Carrie O’Hare and was sent to jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bail bond.
Both men were directed to return to the Stuyvesant Court at a later date.
Canaan
Jose Scott, 17, of Springfield Gardens, was charged with second degree assault by New Lebanon State Police, January 21.
Jose, a student at the Berkshire Farm Center, allegedly broke another student’s jaw while they were fighting at the farm center. He was arraigned in Canaan Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
*Christopher Mortimore, 17, and a 15-year-old boy, not identified by police, both of Schenectady, were each charged with third degree assault by New Lebanon State Trooper Matthew Konkle, December 9.
An argument in a residential cottage on the Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth campus escalated into the assault of one student by two others, according to police.
Christopher allegedly dragged a 17-year-old out of a farm center transport van and punched him repeatedly. The 15-year-old allegedly joined in the attack.
The victim was treated in the campus infirmary for injuries to his knees, nose and jaw. Christopher was arraigned and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $500 bail to reappear in court at a later date. The 15-year-old, because of his age, was issued a Family Court appearance ticket for a later date.
New Lebanon
State Police at New Lebanon investigated a two-car personal injury accident on State Route 20, January 18.
Troopers determined that a vehicle driven by Michael Hogan, 67, of Somerset, NJ was eastbound, driving too fast for snowy conditions, when it spun out into the westbound lane where it struck a vehicle operated by Jane Mole, 57, of New Lebanon. Ms. Mole was not hurt. Mr. Hogan was taken to Berkshire Medical Center for treatment of chest pain.
Kinderhook
Kinderhook State Police investigated a two-car personal injury auto accident on State Route 9, January 21.
Troopers determined that a vehicle driven by Christine Wilder, of Brainard was northbound, when her vehicle struck another northbound vehicle in the rear when it stopped to make a left turn. The two people in the rear-ended vehicle, Ronald and Johnathan Smith of Valatie, were both taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital for treatment of neck and back pain.
Ancramdale
Nicole A. Potter, 24 of Ancram was charged with one count of first degree criminal contempt , a class E felony; one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor and one count of second degree harassment by Livingston State Police, January 21.
Police investigated a reported dispute that took place outside the Ancramdale Post Office at about 6 p.m. that date.
Police say that Ms. Potter drove to the State Police barracks in Livingston to report the alleged incident at about 7 p.m. At the same time, the man involved in the dispute called the State Police in Poughkeepsie to report the incident.
An investigation revealed that the two became involved in an altercation during which Ms. Potter struck the man in the face while he was holding a child. There was an active Order of Protection in place at the time prohibiting Ms. Potter from harassing the man.
She was arraigned in Ancram Court before Justice George Wittlinger, Sr., and was sent to the Columbia County jail, to reappear in court at a later date.
The investigation continues with the assistance of the Dutchess County Probation Department and Columbia County Child Protective Services.
