Austerlitz Town Board looks forward at December meeting

AUSTERLITZ–Supervisor Robert Lagonia opened the monthly meeting of the Austerlitz Town Board December 19, noting the coming availability of balloon pictures of the proposed new Verizon cell phone tower.

Board member Cara Humphrey reported on the Climate Smart Committee and its plan to upgrade the town ranking in 2025. Board member Ken Kaplan reported on a sign for the park and new playground equipment to be installed in time for summer camp with a larger footprint supplied by GameTime.

Committee discussion focused on five committees with five members each, e.g., Aging, Housing et al. Monthly Town Board meetings of the Town of Austerlitz for 2025 will be held the third Thursday of every month starting at 7 p.m. with the exception of the January meeting which will be held January 3 at 2 p.m. following an organizational meeting at 1 p.m. Meetings will be held at the Town of Austerlitz Town Hall located at 816 Route 203, Spencertown.

During the public comment period, Chet Davis led a discussion of speed limits on Route 203. He represents Austerlitz on a Columbia County Board where speed limits and how to get them changed by NYSDOT is a concern in many communities. The next meeting continuing the conversation is January 23 in Hudson.
