KINDERHOOK –Following the postponement of the 22nd running of the OK5K 3.1-mile road race in the Village of Kinderhook, sponsors of the event have insisted their fees continue to support the race and the local food bank it benefits, Race Director Dan Curtin announced in a press release.

“We asked early sponsors what should be done with the money and overwhelmingly they agreed to support the community. Thanks to their generous gifts, the OK5K Race was able to donate $4,850 to help support the Valatie Ecumenical Food Pantry,” Mr. Curtin said in the release.

He acknowledged the sponsors, naming Community Bank, Anderson Agency, Kneller Insurance Agency. Func Art Design, W&B Golf Carts, Valley Energy, Metzwood Insurance, Dell’s Plumbing, Heating & A/C, Kinderhook Toyota, Gilcrest Properties, Upstate Dermatology, 9&20 Autobody, Steiner’s Sports, Valatie Family Foot Care and Mike Thomas Painting.

“Even though we are unable to hold the race this year, I am very happy that the OK5K was able to continue its commitment to giving. In our 22-year history, the race has raised more than $52,000 for local non-profits. We urge all our community members to stay safe and help where they can. We look forward to seeing everyone happy and healthy on June 12, 2021,” said Mr. Curtin
