RAVENA-COEYMANS-SELKIRK — The Ravena Fury took fourth place in the annual Ravena Fury team dual meet tournament, held at the RCS High School gym on Saturday.
The tournament, now in its fourth year, draws some of the most competitive wrestlers to the RCS gym each spring.
Varsity wrestlers competed in 13 weight classes, with youth wrestlers in 14 weight classes.
The Ravena Fury’s Peter Filli took home a win in Round 2, defeating Kasey Kalfass of the team Pin2Win in 5:59. Filli also won by decision in Round 3 against Dylan Green of the Plainsmen.
Wrestler Owen Greene lost by decision 7-3 against Isaac Jaynes of the Plainsmen in Round 3.
Filli then went on to rack up another win in Round 5, pinning Joel Diaz of 5 Points WC in 12:34, and then defeated Alex Ward of Handcrafted by pin in a quick 10 seconds.
In Round 6, Kellen Houghtaling won by pin in 5:30 against Handcrafted’s Broden Enders, with Dominick Maltese pinning his opponent, Logan Ryan, in 3:08. Aiden Forster won by pin in 28 seconds against competitor Carson Haaf of Handcrafted.
Also competing for the Fury in the wrestling division were Owen Greene, Nick Moyer, Ethan Green and Jacob Alaimo.
In the youth division, wrestlers Bobby Bee Bee, Lukas Byas, Greyson Miner and Gabe Moran took to the mat for the Ravena Fury.
RCS will host another off-season wrestling tournament next month, with Fury on the Field taking place on Saturday, June 3, outdoors on the athletics field at RCS High School.
