Time to register for RCS winter sports

Coeymans:

• The threatening weather conditions on the Fourth of July spoiled the outings that many had planned and the showers in the afternoon drove many home that were out for the day.
• The sacrament of the Lord’s supper was observed in the M.E. church last Sunday morning. Two were received into full membership in the church.
• Edward K. Uthe was driving a team down Westerlo Street Tuesday morning when a portion of the harness broke, which allowed the wagon tongue to fail. The team became frightened and ran down the street. When near Carhart gent’s furnishing store, the wagon collided with a tree and was overturned, pinning Mr. Uthe under the wagon. He was extricated. It was found that no bones were broken, but he suffered considerable from the shaking up he received.
• Mrs. Orra Hawn and daughter of Albany are visiting her father, Dr. A.T. Powell.
• Mr. and Mrs. Clare Robbins of this place and Mr. and Mrs. Lauren Robbins of Schenectady are enjoying camp life at Schroon Lake.

Ravena:

• The Fourth of July passed away in this village in a blaze of glory and lots of music in the air. The band concert and display of fireworks planned by the Ravena Hose Co., and the Ravena Band proved a big attraction to a couple of thousand out of town folks, who came in hundreds of cars and filled lower Main Street and West Shore Street.
• Community Chautauqua will be here again for its five days of pleasure and education beginning the program on Tuesday evening, July 10, with a concert and entertainment by the John Ross Reed Company. Tickets are for sale by the members of the association from whom they can be purchased at the regular price of $2.50.
• Born to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Makely, a daughter, on Wednesday last.
• William V. Roberts played in the Shriners Band, whose concert was broadcasted from WGY last Thursday night.
• The installation of officers of LeRoy M. Whipple Council, No. 96 will be held on Friday night, July 27, instead of July 13. The change in date has been made on account of Chautauqua. The regular business meeting will be held on Friday evening July 13, and every member is urged to attend.

• H. Slingerland has had his dock front rebuilt.
• A cargo of coal was discharged Saturday for the Lotta.
• Baeren Island is engaged for 27 excursions during the month of July.
• The employees of S.L. Munson’s big collar establishment in Albany had a complimentary excursion on Baeren Island Saturday.
• “Jeffersonian simplicity” in summer means short sleeves and trousers but no collar.
