Schalmont squeaks past RCS

RAVENA-COEYMANS-SELKIRK — The Schalmont Sabres squeaked past the RCS Indians’ boys’ basketball team Friday.

The Sabres scored 52 to the Indians’ 45 in Colonial Council play.

The Indians’ Jack Reif led all scorers with 16 points on the game, and Isiah Smith led the Sabres with 14.

For the Indians, Jack McFerran scored 8, Eddie Reville 7, Nick Gibney and Rilley Kellam scored 5 apiece, and Joe Touzin and Alex Halwick each scored 2.

The Indians scored 7 points in the first quarter and 13 in the second before heading into the locker room at halftime. The team’s highest scoring period came in the third, with 15 points. The Indians added another 10 points in the fourth quarter.

The Indians led in the game after the third quarter, 35-34, before the Sabres turned up the heat and scored 18 in the final stanza of the game for the win.
