COEYMANS —  A man claimed he was robbed at gunpoint after responding to a dating app.

Coeymans Police received a report Jan. 24 that the man had met up with a woman he met on a social dating app and they arranged to meet at a residence at Fleming’s Trailer Park on Route 9W.

“As the victim was preparing to leave the residence, a male that was present, along with the female involved in the original dating app, both conspired to rob the victim by pulling out a handgun, pressed it to the victim’s neck and demanded cash,” according to a statement from the Coeymans Police Department.

Police say the man was released after handing over payment.

Jason M. Ellsworth, 48, and Jasmine Peppin, 27, both of Selkirk, were arrested on warrants issued by the Town of Coeymans Justice Court.

The warrants were executed last Thursday with assistance from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office and Ellsworth and Peppin were taken into custody.

A handgun was recovered, according to police.

Ellsworth and Peppin were arraigned in town court and charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree kidnapping.

They were remanded to the Albany County Jail pending further court action.
