RAVENA-COEYMANS — Once again this summer the Albany County Department of Parks and Recreation is offering free programs to local kids here in the community.

Kids can register for all programs at www.AlbanyCounty.com/Recreation and pre-registration is required as all programs have limited spots.

From July 11 to Aug. 12, kids from ages 6-14 can come to Mosher Park on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. to hone their skills at Basketball Camp.

From Aug. 12-16, Lacrosse Camp will be offered for players ages 8-13. The session will run from 1-4 p.m. at the Mosher Park football field.

From Aug. 19-23, also at Mosher Park, a Baseball Camp will be offered for those ages 6-14 from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Pickleball Camp will be held at the RCS Middle School tennis courts from 8:30-10:30 a.m. July 22-25, and is offered to kids ages 10-14.

Arts in the Park is for kids aged 8-12 from 9 a.m. to noon from July 29 to Aug. 1, and will be held at the Mosher Park Pavilion and Pool Complex. The program offers various art stations for attendees to visit with crafts to do including painting, paracord bracelet making, beading and more.

Should the Coeymans programming be full, there are plenty of programs being run around the county. So, check the website if you can’t get in to a local camp.

“We were contacted by the community leadership to ask for more diverse programming this year,” said Albany County Parks and Rec Programming Coordinators Olivia Downs. “We enjoy bringing sports to the community but we wanted to add something for people that aren’t necessarily into sports, so we were excited to offer the Arts in the Park program that is new this year.”

And the fun isn’t only during the summer, according to Downs, the county programming goes all year long.

As the weather begins to cool down, look to the county website to see what fall programming will be offered in the community, encourages Downs.

She also encouraged community members to look for the upcoming county Fall Festival, which will be held at the Rail Trail in Delmar in September.
