Peter J. Sorell, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday evening, July 19, 2024, with his family at his side.
Peter was born in Albany on March 19, 1950, son of the late Peter J. Sorell, Sr., and Irene Viola Bates Sorell. He was a lifelong resident of Ravena/Coeymans and graduated from Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, Class of 1969.
Peter was employed as a steel worker for more than 40 years, retiring in 2012. He enjoyed rooting for the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, and the New York Liberty. Peter and his longtime partner, Christine, enjoyed traveling with good friends Gertrude and Joseph Friello with Yankee Trails to places like Hawaii, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and across the United States. He also enjoyed going for rides on his Harley.
In addition to Christine M. Keenan, his longtime partner of 24 years, survivors include his daughters, Kathy Jo (Donald) McNessor and Pamelyn Jean Powell (Matthew); five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Peter was predeceased by his son, Peter J. Sorell, III.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service on Thursday, July 25, at 11 a.m. in Grove Cemetery, Coeymans. There are no calling hours.
