Jim “Red” Carroll

Jim “Red” Carroll was laid to rest on Oct. 29, 2023, after a long battle with heart disease.

Jim was born in Brooklyn on Oct. 6, 1950, to Jim and Ann Carroll.

He was married to his loving wife of 54 years, Melodie Dutcher, on July 5, 1969, and they had three children: Tracie (Rowles) Carroll, James “Jay” Carroll and Katrina (Cymbalisty) Carroll.

Jim worked at Marshall’s Garage in Ravena for 48 years where he ran the service department, among many other tasks. Jim enjoyed giving back to the community by playing Santa (shhh) or simply helping anyone in need. He also enjoyed boating on the Hudson River with friends and family, proudly flying the Irish pirate flag.

He moved to North Carolina where the weather is warmer and enjoyed building the “perfect” lawn, taking in the sights at the zoos, going on multiple cruise adventures, and spending time with family.

He was predeceased by his parents Jim and Ann Carroll and sister Theresa Rich.

Jim is survived by his wife and best friend Melodie Carroll, his children Tracie (Mike) Rowles, James (Stephanie) Carroll and Katrina Cymbalisty; grandchildren Ashley Carroll, Allisa (Tony) Hendrickson, Alexis (Alejandro) Cymbalisty, Auston Cymbalisty, James Carroll, and Adelyn Carroll; great-grandchildren Davon Carroll, Allyana Cowan, and Arthur Hendrickson; siblings Jessie (Doug) Wright, Patrick (Angie) Carroll, Michael (wendi) Carroll, JoAnn O’Donnell and Tony Rich. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Jim will be missed by everyone he encountered in life and will forever be known as the Irish Pirate.
