Coeymans:

  • Mr. and Mrs. Edward Uthe Jr. entertained a party of friends at cards St. Patrick’s night.
  • Seven brick barges of Sutton & Suderley Brick Co. arrived at their yards last week, and Powell & Minnock barges also came up. The work of loading boats has started.
  • A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jones at the Albany City Hospital March 14. Mrs. Jones was formerly Miss Ada Maxwell of this village. The young man has been named Willard Mosher Jones.
  • The Fellowcraft degree was conferred on Monday night at the regular session of Onesquethau Lodge.
  • Thos. Minnock has returned from a six-week stay in Florida. Miss Elizabeth Minnock has returned from a week’s stay in New York City.

Ravena:

  • The annual village election in Ravena was a very modest affair. The result of the election was that of the 37 ballots cast, only one other name was found on the ballots and that being D.S. McCulloch, who received one vote for collector. The ticket was as follows: A. V. Van Hoesen, president; L.F. Lisk and W. Swan, trustees; F.E. Bleezarde, treasurer; and Elwood C. Griffin, collector.
  • The Ravena-Albany bus line will resume the 11:15 trip from Albany and the 12:40 trip from Coeymans beginning Monday, March 23.
  • J.M. Lewis and his attorney were in town on Wednesday looking after business matters in connection with the Park Hotel, his former holding in local property. Mr. Lewis has taken over the major interest in this hotel.
  • The W.T.C.U. will hold a bake sale in the Water Co. office Saturday, March 28, at 3 p.m. to increase funds for the tablet for the World War veterans. All members and friends of the union are asked to donate for this sale.
  • The Rev. W.E. Baker has been ill with the grippe and was unable to occupy the pulpit of the Christian church on Sunday.

  • The Newburgh-Albany line of steamers will begin their trips for the season Monday.
  • Lightkeepers Bailey and Shafer lit the government lights Sunday night for the first time this season.
  • Since 1885 up to this date, there have been 101 interments in Grove Cemetery as follows: 1885, 16; 1886, 14; 1887, 22; 1888, 26; 1889, 15; 1890, 8.
  • Mr. P.H. Seehaus, tonsorial artist, has place in his shop on Main Street a new and very neat barber chair made by the Archer Mf’ Co., of Rochester.
  • A carload of 25 Sioux Indians and six or eight cowboys from the Indian territory passed over the West Shore railroad the other day enroute to New York, from whence they will go to Europe.
  • Insurance agents doing business in this village have to file a bond for $500 with the treasurer of the fire department.
