Coeymans:

  • Dr. A.L. Powell and son, TenEyck Powell, left last week for a trip to Bermuda.
  • Miss Mable Pitts of Albany spent Sunday with her sister, Mrs. Edward Uthe Jr., and family.
  • Mrs. Pearl Clow, who is spending the winter at the parsonage with her daughter, Mrs. H.J. Jones, is recovering from an attack of the grippe.
  • A Camp Fire Council of Y.W.S.L. of the Reformed Church was held at the parsonage on Monday evening. After the usual devotional service, a paper was read by the president, Mrs. Harry Van Heusen, on “Indian Work in South America.” The work for the coming spring months was planned. Refreshments were served around the campfire and the club adjourned to meet with Mrs. Winnie Wolfe, March 10.
  • The first in a series of topics on “The Place Where I Live” will be discussed by the Epworth League Sunday evening. Mrs. Fred Hazelton will lead. The topic will be “Keeping it Well.”

Ravena:

  • Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Hannay entertained Mrs. Ruth Gifford of Indian Fields over the weekend.
  • Mrs. H.E. Stapleton has been substituting at the high school during the absence of Mrs. Cornelius Shear.
  • Several from this place represented Ella C. Perry chapter, No. 461, O.E.S. at the convention of the chapter of the 13th district in Troy on Wednesday.
  • The Ravena Lumber Company has purchased a piece of land from Victor Waltz in the rear of their lumber sheds on Main Street and are planning to erect additional lumber sheds. The land is now being filled in for a roadway.
  • The Ladies’ Aid will meet in the lecture room of the M.E. church at 3 o’clock Wednesday, March 4.
  • Edwin Smith of Buffalo and Augusta Smith of Albany visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Smith over Sunday.

  • Considerable stone for building purposes is being delivered about the village.
  • The new two-cent stamp makes certain that at least one part of every letter mailed will be read.
  • The law firm of Barlow & Greene at Coeymans Junction has been dissolved by mutual consent.
  • Capt. W.W. Wolfe informs us that he has contracted with the Poughkeepsie Bridge Company for the services of the tug Susie for another year.
  • The river, which was again closed by the blizzard of Thursday and Friday, was yesterday cleared of ice by the fog and rain which prevailed throughout the day.
  • The friends of Rev. H.P. Craig, pastor of the Reformed Church of this village, are cordially invited to attend a donation party at the parsonage on Wednesday evening, March 6.
  • Deputy Sheriff Hallenbeck started for Dannemora with two prisoners last night.
  • Carhart will remove his cash store business from the Bailey to the Wolfe building today.
