Girls’ soccer makes it six in a row

RAVENA-COEYMANS-SELKIRK — The RCS girls’ soccer team made it six wins in a row Thursday in a season where they remain undefeated .

The Ravens easily knocked out Catholic Central in a 5-0 win on their home field.

The team has only given up a single goal during the season, in their second matchup of the year when they defeated Albany Academy 7-1. Every other game has been a shutout.

Against the Crusaders on Thursday, senior Katie McFerran scored two goals — she also scored a pair of goals two days before against Troy. Senior Patricia Dorrance, sophomore Hayden Wolfe and eighth grader Addison Lochner scored a goal apiece.

Lochner also contributed a trio of assists and sophomore Chloe DeOliveira had an assist.  The team ranks first in the Colonial Council.

4-0 WIN OVER TROY

Two days before, the Ravens dominated Troy with a 4-0 shutout on the road.

McFerran led the way with two goals. Junior Mackenzie Cross had one goal and one assist, and Wolfe also contributed one goal and one assist.

The Ravens started out the 2024 season with a 3-0 win over La Salle Institute in the opening game and never looked back. They followed that with a 7-1 blowout against Albany Academy, then 6-0 and 5-0 wins over Cohoes and Coxsackie-Athens, respectively, before defeating Troy and then Catholic Central last week.

The team was scheduled to face off against Schalmont in a home game Tuesday, with results too late for publication, and against Voorheesville in an away match Thursday.
