  • Family Storytime

Thursday, April 10, from 10-11 a.m.

Family Storytime is a fun, participatory storytime for the whole family that includes songs, fingerplays, stories and movement activities. Early literacy activities are emphasized. No registration is required.

  • Romp and Read

Friday, April 11, from 10-11 a.m.

Romp and Read will help get the wiggles out on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. with interactive themes, stories and action songs with props. No need to register.

  • Recycle Your Crayons for Good!

Saturday, April 12, and Monday, April 14 to Saturday, April 19, all day

This is a great way to bring happiness to children in hospitals while doing your part for the environment by recycling. Just bring your broken, used and unwanted crayons to the library and they will take them to be recycled by The Crayon Initiative. Old crayons are transformed into all new, refreshed crayons to be used by pediatric patients. No registration is required. Bring your old crayons to the library and drop them off in the designated box anytime between April 12-19.

  • Egg Candling

Monday, April 14, from 2-3 p.m.

George Steele the Schoolyard Naturalist will be returning to the RCS Community Library to demonstrate egg candling. Participants will shine a bright focused light at the eggs, which will allow them to see through the shell at how chicken eggs are developing. This is part two of a two-part program. The first program, “Hatching Chicken Eggs,” took place on April 5. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org. For ages 3-12 and their caregivers.

  • This Craft is For the Birds!

Tuesday, April 15, from 2-3 p.m.

Participants will use recycled materials to craft a fun, feathered friend. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org. For ages 3-12.

  • Chair Yoga

Wednesday, April 16, from 10:30-11:15 p.m.

Join in at the RCS Community Library for this series of gentle chair yoga classes. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org. For adults ages 50 and up.

  • Read with Rocket

Wednesday, April 16, from 1-1:45 p.m.

Come read to Rocket, a certified therapy dog who loves to cuddle and listen to children reading! Trained by Therapy Dogs International, Rocket is a great companion for kids while they practice their reading. Kids are encouraged to come to the library, grab a book (or bring their own), and get comfy while they practice reading aloud. This is a drop-in program; no registration is required. For ages 5-12.

  • Lunchtime Books: ‘Help Wanted’

Thursday, April 17, from 12-1 p.m.

The novel is “Help Wanted” by Adelle Waldman. When a big box store manager announces that he is leaving, the members of his team realize this is the chance for one of them to move up into a management role. The teammates join together to set a plan in motion. Books are available at the library and new members are always welcome. No registration is required.
