- Storytime on a School Bus
Thursday, Aug. 22, from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Just in time to help calm those first day of school jitters! Help acclimate your little one to their new commute by joining in for this one-of-a-kind storytime experience. There will be stories and songs related to school buses, and then participants will climb aboard an actual school bus to check it out. Thanks to the RCS Central School District for providing a school but for this special storytime. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org. For ages 0-5 with a caregiver.
- Are You Prepared?
Thursday, Aug. 22, from 1-2 p.m.
The NY Citizen Preparedness Training Program teaches residents to have the tools and resources to prepare for any disaster, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. This training course will provide an introduction to responding to a natural or man-made disaster, including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies. - Last Tuesday Book Group: ‘Spirits in the Wires’
Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
The novel is “Spirits in the Wires” by Charles De Lint. At a popular Newford online research and library website called Wordwood, a mysterious crash occurs. Everyone visiting the site at the moment of the crash vanishes from where they were sitting in front of their computers. Christy Ridding’s girlfriend Saskia disappears right before his eyes, along with countless others. To rescue their missing friends, Christy and his companions must journey into Newford’s otherworld, where the Wordwood, it transpires, has a physical presence of its own. Books are available at the library and new members are always welcome. No registration is required. For adults.
- Write Together at the Library

Are you a beginning writer, or maybe working on the Great American Novel? Maybe you’re the short story type? Prose fiction writers of all types and levels are invited to bring your notebooks, laptops or other writing implements and join in for an evening of writing together. The library will offer writing prompts, sprints, and quiet time for you to get ahead on your writing project, no matter where you are in the process. - Family Storytime

Family Storytime is a fun, participatory storytime for the whole family that includes songs, fingerplays, stories and movement activities. Early literacy activities are emphasized. No registration is needed.
