Family Storytime is a fun, participatory storytime for the whole family that includes songs, fingerplays, stories and movement activities. Early literacy activities are emphasized.

  • Lunchtime Books: ‘Roman Stories’

Thursday, Jan. 16, from 12-1 p.m.

The nine stories in Jhumpa Lahiri’s first collection since she switched to writing in Italian powerfully convey her characters’ struggles to find their place in the world and overcome their painful sense of being outsiders. Elegantly written and largely translated by the author — who herself straddles several cultures and languages — “Roman Stories” presents an affecting view of an often cruelly unwelcoming world. Books are available at the library and new members are always welcome. No registration is required. For adults.

  • Vision Board Collage

Thursday, Jan. 16, from 6:30-7:45 p.m.

New Year’s resolutions are so 2024! How about making a piece of collage art that engages your creativity and reflects your intentions for the new year? Bring your own images and the library will supply materials and prompts for participants to create their 2025 masterpiece. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org. For adults.

Romp and Read will help get the wiggles out on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. with interactive themes, stories and action songs with props. No need to register.

  • Write Together at the Library

Are you a beginning writer, or maybe working on the Great American Novel? Maybe you’re the short story type? Prose fiction writers of all types and levels are invited to bring their notebooks, laptops or other writing implements and join in for an evening of writing together. The library will offer writing prompts, sprints and quiet time for you to get ahead on your writing project, no matter where you are in the process. This winter the library is changing things up a little! Join in at the RCS Community Library at 95 Main St. for this series of gentle chair yoga classes. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org. For adults ages 50 and up.

  • Senior Cinema: ‘Clue’

Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 2-5 p.m.

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of this classic comedy murder mystery with performances from an all-star cast including Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn and Christopher Lloyd. Rated PG. For adults.
