Family Storytime is a fun, participatory storytime for the whole family that includes songs, fingerplays, stories and movement activities. Early literacy activities are emphasized. No registration is required.

  • Lunchtime Books: ‘Long Island’

Thursday, Dec. 19, from 12-1 p.m.

In this follow-up to Toibin’s 2009 novel, the author takes us back to Ellis Lacey and reveals more of the story about this Irish girl who is now grown-up and living on Long Island. Books are available at the library and new members are always welcome. No registration required. For adults.

  • Romp and Read

Friday, Dec. 20, from 10-11 a.m.

Romp and Read will help get the wiggles out on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. with interactive themes, stories and action songs with props. No need to register.

  • ‘Warm Up’ on Winter Solstice

Saturday, Dec. 21, from 2-3 p.m.

Come mark the shortest day of the year by gathering together to make a craft that will bring light and warmth during this dark winter season. Enjoy cozy music, a warm cup of tea or cocoa, and some winter-themed cookies as participants celebrate the return of longer days. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org.

  • Kids Can Make: Holiday Appetizers

Monday, Dec. 23, from 2-3 p.m.

Learn two simple and fun holiday appetizers that kids can make all on their own! Registration required at rcscommunitylibrary.org. For children ages 4-12.

Drop by anytime and use the library’s supplies to craft thank you notes for holiday gifts. No registration required.

  • HEAP Drop-In Application Assistance

Friday, Dec. 27, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Do you need help heating your home? Come find out if you are eligible for Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) benefits, which can help eligible New Yorkers heat their homes. If you are eligible, you may receive one regular HEAP benefit per program year and could also be eligible for emergency HEAP benefits if you are in danger of running out of fuel or having your utility service shut off. A representative from Cornell cooperative Extension will be present and will meet with people individually on a first come-first serve basis. Applications will be available if you’d like to complete an application on site. No registration is required.
