  • Family Storytime

Thursday, Dec. 12, from 10-11 a.m.

Family Storytime is a fun, participatory storytime for the whole family that includes songs, fingerplays, stories and movement activities. No registration is required.

  • Gift Wrap-A-Palooza

Thursday, Dec. 12, from 2-3:30 p.m.; 4-5:30 p.m.; and 6-7:30 p.m.

Do you have gifts you don’t want the little ones to see? Maybe you’re hiding something special from a loved one? Wrap your gifts here! The library will provide paper, tape, ribbons, bows and decorations. The library will also have some craft paper gift bags that you can decorate and use. There will be eight people per seating, with three seatings at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org. For adults.

  • HEAP Drop-In Application Assistance

Friday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Do you need help heating your home? Come find out if you are eligible for Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) benefits, which can help eligible New Yorkers heat their homes. If you are eligible, you may receive one regular HEAP benefit per program year and could also be eligible for emergency HEAP benefits if you are in danger of running out of fuel or having your utility service shut off. A representative from Cornell Cooperative Extension will be present and will meet with people individually on a first come-first serve basis. Applications will be available if you would like to complete an application on site. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org.

  • Romp and Read

Friday, Dec. 13, from 10-11 a.m.

Romp and Read will help get the wiggles out on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. with interactive themes, stories, and action songs with props. No need to register.

  • Chair Yoga

Friday, Dec. 13, from 10:30-11:15 a.m.

Join in at Senior Projects of Ravena for this series of gentle chair yoga classes. For adults ages 50 and over.

  • Sweets with Santa

Saturday, Dec. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Join Santa at the library for some holiday stories and seasonal cheer. Enjoy a few holiday crafts and a winter science experiment, write a letter to Santa, then pick out a book to take home along with your sweet treat goodie bag. Registration is required at rcscommunitylibrary.org.

  • Friends of the RCS Community Library Monthly Meeting

Monday, Dec. 16, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The Friends of the RCS Community Library meets monthly to discuss ways to advocate and support the library and its services. New members are always welcome! Meetings are at the library on the third Monday of the month.

  • Romp and Read

  • Write Together at the Library

Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 6:30-7:45 p.m.

Are you a beginning writer, or maybe working on the Great American Novel? Maybe you’re the short story type? Prose fiction writers of all types and levels are invited to bring your notebooks, laptops or other writing implements and join in for an evening of writing together. The library will offer writing prompts, sprints, and quiet time for you to get ahead on your writing project, no matter where you are in the process.   • Senior Cinema: ‘Last Christmas’

Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 2-5 p.m.

“Last Christmas” is a heartfelt comedy inspired by the unforgettable music of George Michael. Emilia Clarke stars at Kate, who works as an elf at a year-round holiday shop and faces an endless streak of bad luck and poor decision making until she meets Tom (Henry Golding), a kind-hearted man with a mysterious past who challenges her cynical worldview. It seems like nothing can keep this mismatched couple together, but sometimes you’ve got to listed to your heart… and you’ve got to have faith. Rated PG-13. For adults.
