RAVENA-COEYMANS-SELKIRK — It’s been four long years, but with the end of high school in sight, the RCS school district has announced the top 10 students for the Class of 2024.

“Students earn this honor based on their overall grade point averages during the past four academic years,” according to the district’s website.

This year’s valedictorian is Maxwell Deyoe, who had the highest GPA of any graduating senior over his high school career. The salutatorian is Alivia Ortiz. Ortiz was also one of five area young people to be honored by Capital Region Independent Media, which publishes the Ravena News-Herald, as a Top 5ive award recipient in the inaugural awards ceremony in 2023.

Deyoe is planning on attending Clarkson University in the fall, where he will pursue a degree in biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering, according to the school district.

Ortiz, with the second highest grade point average in RCS’s Class of 2024, will attend the University of Vermont, where she will work towards a degree in environmental science.

The remaining students on this year’s top 10 list, ranked three through 10, are Sienna Rinell, Chloe Canham, Carl-Hanee Coquillon, Nicole Kamp, Jack Reif, Nina Kozlowski, Jillian Hallisey and Roksolana Voronko.
