RAVENA — The community turned out recently as HEARt Ear Boutique opened its third location, a satellite office located at Southtown’s Optical on Route 9W in Ravena.

HEArt Ear Boutique is a hearing aid sales and repair shop with a local and personal touch, according to owner Robert J. LaCosta, who founded HEARt Ear Boutique in Glenmont and Coxsackie.

LaCosta was also the CEO of Hear For You of Albany, where his patient and noted broadcaster, the late Ernie Tetrault, educated many groups on the effects of hearing loss and the advantages of cutting-edge hearing technology. LaCosta is a former board member of the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Community Business Association, which held the ribbon cutting.

RCS CBA board chair Marlene McTigue spoke of LaCosta’s dedication to the community and thanked him for choosing to invest in Ravena.

“We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Bob, for choosing to invest here. We are so appreciative — you could have chosen anywhere in the Capital District, but you chose to bring it home here to Ravena and that speaks volumes about your dedication to this community,” she said as LaCosta and his wife, Vincenzina Cavaleri, cut the ribbon in their newest venture and a crowd of business association members and well-wishers surrounded them, including Town Supervisor Stephen Donnelly and Village Trustee Linda Muller.

“I’ve seen ‘jumps’ turn into ‘leaps’ in hearing technology throughout my four decades — especially with the recent introduction of artificial intelligence,” LaCosta said. “And yet one thing will never change. Personal care, competence and the convenience of a local office is the only way to truly arrive at successful fittings.”

The hearing instrument specialist has overseen thousands of hearing aid fittings and witnessed how they have changed lives.

“I live in Coeymans and I want to see Ravena continue to grow,” he said. “I think opening an office close to patients helps them and caregivers responsible for elderly relatives.”

The new business is the latest step in a string of new initiatives in the community, Town Supervisor Stephen Donnelly said.

“The town of Coeymans is proud to support and promote with the village of Ravena, and the RCSCBA, the enterprise of small business growth in our area,” Donnelly said. “It is always a pleasure meeting business owners like Robert LaCosta, and share in their vision of economic development in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk district. Working together, we will continue to attract new business and support existing ones as they continue to develop in our expanding economy. The Town of Coeymans looks forward to many years of productive cooperation and sustainable progress with the Village of Ravena, and the RCSCBA.”
