Acomb takes 1st place in Schenectady Invitational

RAVENA-COEYMANS-SELKIRK — Jayden Acomb took first place in the 131-pound weight class in the annual Schenectady Invitational.

Acomb defeated five straight opponents, from Cobleskill-Richmondville, Albany, Schenectady, Ballston Spa and Salem-Cambridge, two by pin — in 1:30 against Brody Gallagher from Cobleskill-Richmondville, and again in 1:39 against Ballston Spa’s Gavin Whipple.

The only other Raven to place in the tournament was Kellen Houghtaling, who finished in sixth place in the 170-pound weight class.

Also competing were Carter Castagna, Aiden Forster, Owen Greene, Brock Larsen, Aiden Miner, Elijah Percival and Donovin Taber.

As a team, RCS finished in 16th place out of 20 teams with 40.0 points. Shenendehowa, Timberlane and Schenectady finished in first with 199.0, 175.0 and 118.5 points, respectively.
