RAVENA-COEYMANS-SELKIRK — RCS wrestler Jayden Acomb will advance to the state wrestling championships at the MVP Arena in Albany this weekend.

Acomb, who competes in the 116-pound weight class, placed third initially, and then wrestled for the true second place and won. He will next advance to compete at the state competition.

He is the only Indian to qualify for the state championship, but several others also took to the podium at the Section 2 Division II wrestling championship Feb. 10 at the Cool Insurance Arena in Glens Falls.

Kaden Potter placed third in the 152-pound weight class, Nick Moyer took third at 170, and Owen Green came in fourth in the 108-pound weight class.

The team came in 10th out of 28 teams with 66.5 points. Glens Falls took the top spot with 112.5, followed by Cobleskill-Richmondville with 110.0, Salem-Cambridge with 103.0 and Warrensburg-Lake George with 99.5.
