GLENMONT — Police are seeking information on an alleged burglary at the Walmart store on Route 9W in Glenmont.

The Bethlehem Police Department responded to a report of a burglary in progress on May 10 at around 1:16 a.m.

“The suspect in the case forced entry into the store through the Garden Center entrance and used a fire extinguisher to smash open a gun case,” according to a statement from Bethlehem Police. “The suspect then fled the store with five long guns through the Sporting Goods emergency exit.”

The suspect, who has not yet been identified, entered the wooded area near Bender Lane, police said.

Law enforcement from Bethlehem Police, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office and state police searched the wooded area behind the store and recovered all of the guns, as well as property belonging to the suspect, police said.

Police did not identify what type of personal property was retrieved.
